A North Carolina Bill to Prohibit Destruction of Firearms is Signed into Law

NRA-ILA

NRA – ILA

Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)-  On Wednesday 6-19-13, Governor Pat McCrory (R) signed into law Senate Bill 443, legislation to prohibit the destruction of firearms.

This new law will take effect on September 1, 2013.

Introduced by state Senator Andrew Brock (R-34), this law will eliminate the option of destroying lawful firearms that are in safe working condition that have been seized or otherwise recovered by law enforcement.

It will also require the firearms be transferred to a law enforcement agency for official use, be sold at public auction to Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders, be maintained by the State Bureau of Investigation for training or experimental purposes, or be transferred to a museum or historical society.

Special thanks to Senator Brock for introducing S 443 and ensuring its passage, state Representative Jacqueline Schaeffer for introducing the House companion bill and working with NRA on her language, and Governor McCrory for signing this important reform into law.

    1. Now if we could only get a bill such as this to be signed into law on a federal level

    2. This is great news , I am really proud of my new state government on this , sometimes they disappoint me but this makes up for a lot of those disappointments . My congratulations to the new State government of North Carolina .
