Contact Governor Sandoval urging him to veto Senate Bill 221 TODAY!
Charlotte, NC –-(Ammoland.com)- For most of the session, Senate Bill 221 was stalled in the state legislature.
Anti-gun New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, then began operating in Nevada and started a deceptive spending campaign.
Now on the final day of the 2013 legislative session, and in spite of obvious flaws recognized even by supporters, SB 221 passed in the Assembly by a 23 to 19 vote and the Senate by a 11 to 10 vote on May 22. SB 221 is now going to the Governor.
Governor Brian Sandoval (R) has indicated that he will veto this legislation but he needs to hear your opposition to SB 221. Please respectfully encourage him to veto this misguided gun control effort.
SB 221 would ban all private firearm transfers, absent an exception, unless conducted through a gun dealer. Even transactions that do not require a background check – such as those involving a concealed firearm permit holder – would still be required to go through a gun dealer and would be subject to a fee. Additionally, SB 221 carries penalties so severe for violations of this proposed law that failure to follow them exactly would result in temporary, and even permanent, loss of your fundamental Second Amendment rights.
SB 221 was also opposed by the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association, who testified before the Assembly Judiciary Committee in opposition to this deeply flawed legislation.
It is critical that you contact Governor Sandoval NOW and encourage him to stand strong to defend the rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen in Nevada. Anyone who has had a family member shot and any complications that can happen. It really destroys your family life and plans you have made for your future. There were 2 young people that shot my husband 3 times and they weren’t but maybe 13 and 17. He was just doing his job of being security for an apartment complex. Which he should have been working as the Manager of this property. Too bad Bloomberg was not around in NAZI Germany. There were plenty of Jews there who wished they had guns to defend themselves and their families.Bloomberg should go to the gas chambers with his family and explain to them, on the way, why defending yourself with a gun is sooo bad!
Anyone not in Nevada should still call the Governor’s office (press 3) and tell them that you won’t visit Vegas or Reno ever again, if this becomes law. Your $$$ means as much as votes…
