NEWINGTON, NH --(Ammoland.com)- SIG SAUER has become an IMAGE-certified workplace as part of a collaborative effort with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency.
The Newington-based manufacturer of military, law enforcement and civilian firearms is the first company in New Hampshire to obtain this honor.
ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE) seeks to empower employers with a pragmatic immigration compliance strategy. The IMAGE certification program provides participating employers with tools and training to prevent undocumented workers from obtaining fraudulent identities and workplace benefits. With the implementation of this program, employers can verify that newly hired employees are legally eligible to work in the United States, and pledge to end the employment of any undocumented workers. This internet-based system is available throughout the nation and is free to employers. All IMAGE members must participate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security E-Verify employment eligibility verification program.
“As SIG SAUER has grown and expanded its workforce, new hires have been thoroughly vetted and citizenship established,” said Jeff Chartier, Vice President, Human Resources. “As one of the primary suppliers of firearms to ICE, we believe it is crucial to work with the agency to screen potential employees and ensure workforce compliance.”
“The certification process adds a level of distinction to the company,” said Bruce Foucart, special agent in charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations, Boston. “That says that not only is SIG SAUER committed to quality products, but also committed to maintaining a quality and capable workforce.”
With the addition of its new headquarters in the Pease International Tradeport in Newington, NH, SIG SAUER has surpassed 800 employees in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
