NEWTOWN, Conn –-(Ammoland.com)- The National Shooting Sports Foundation today issued the following statement after the successful recall elections on Tuesday of State Senate President John Morse and State Sen. Angela Giron:

When legislators fail to represent the beliefs of their constituents, it is up to the voters to fire them. And this is exactly what happened Tuesday in the Colorado Springs district of John Morse and the Pueblo district of Angela Giron. Sens. Morse and Giron chose to forget about their constituents. Instead, Sen. Morse led the hasty effort that led to the passage of a series of highly restricted gun control laws that will do nothing to improve public safety but that did reflect the wishes of national anti-gun organizations, including the one led by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Sen. Giron was a key vote in this ill-considered effort.

On behalf of our members, we congratulate the grassroots effort of the Coloradans who stood up for their Second Amendment rights against a well-financed effort that poured a massive amount of money into the effort to save these seats.

Congratulations, too, to Bernie Herpin and George Rivera, who now join the Colorado State Senate and whom we are certain will work diligently to represent the will of their constituents, not forgetting all those who worked so hard to put them in office.

Colorado, I thought the majority of you were fascists, obviously that is not the case. You are an inspiration to the rest of America! God Bless!

Nana

Way to go Colorado voters!! What an inspiration!!

Bill James

This wasn’t just about 2nd amendment rights, it was about the ‘excrement for brains’ senators ignoring those that put them in office, and running roughshod over any objections to push ‘the california agenda’ on Colorado. I was ready to move out of Colorado because of what the democrats have done to my beautiful state, now I might stay to fight the good fight.

James Andrews

Awesome! Now we need voters in Nazi states like New York, New Jersey, and California to do the same thing. Vote out every single anti-Bill of rights, tax and spend socialist monster OUT OF OFFICE!

Behind Enemy Lines

While the legislation may not be overturned this session or next the balance of power has shifted in the Colorado Senate. Before the recall Democrates held 20 seats and Republicans 15. Now, because both were replaced by Republicans, the balance is 18-17. Now only one moderate Dem is needed to shift the outcome of a vote.

I believe now is a good time for pro-gun legislation in Colorado. Dems will either have to sign on or seek a new vocation next election.

Bill Baker

@Mike: Feel free to disagree. The laws are still in place, until you win more elections they can not be removed except by the courts. So doesn’t matter to me whether you agree, the fact is the laws still are in place. Hence, the symbolic victory. A good symbol it is, no doubt, but until the laws are gone we have not won. Also making it bad to use the word victory too much, as this was but a battle in the war, and leading anyone like the man I responded too to think otherwise is a fools errand. Boycotts… Read more »

Bill Baker: I disagree. This is not symbolic! There are really GONE! These things take time, and money. Next it will be 2014 and on the hit list is the Gov that thinks no one can touch him, and those homosexuals that have infested our CO government. There are next. Then we will repeal the laws they passed and shove them down their liberal throats.

Bill Baker

@Fed Up: If you were boycotting it due to their new laws, etc, you may want to wait til they actually change something. While I hate to agree with Morse, he is correct, this victory is only symbolic for now as the Dems are still in charge their. This may make them think twice in the future, but in no way immediately removes any of their anti-gun laws for now. So any reason you had to boycott the state is probably still in place, unless you now wish to reward the dems still in charge…

Paul Wesolowski

This is going to happen ALL OVER the country, so stand by all you Democrats who thought you were somebody. Your gonna be OUTTA HERE!

James Bowlen

Can they be prosecuted for their actions? What can be done to keep them from ever holding office again?

fed up

THIS IS SWEET NEWS INDEED!i may go there yet this fall! i had been boycotting the state!!

That recall makes it even more important for every person to contact all of their reps and inform them that this is what happens to reps that don’t represent their constituents. Make them understand we are tired of reps like nasty peelousy that say “all of my constituents are against the attack of Syria but they don’t know what I know”. well how do we know that she has interpreted the info accurately? They are there to represent the wishes of their constituents not their personal opinions!

John Detwiler

Now the next thing they need top do is to get those backward thinking liberals out of office. And the Liberal idiot that signed those controls intoo law, the Governor. When are the people going to wake up and realize that the Democrats are a detriment to a states citizens freedoms? The sole purpose of the leftist politicians is the total control of the states population. To be able to dictate simular laws that led to the recall of those so called [politicians.

Becker

Just remember, if you lie to get elected, you are going to be run out of town on a rail. Just don’t bother to run. Waste of your time and money and our votes. YOU will be put out!!!

TEX

This is great news for 2’nd Amendment freedoms. I sure hope all the lilly livered gungrabbing losers in California are watching.

TexStan

It just doesn’t get any better than this. Bravo Zulu Colorado!

Mark

This is exactly what the voters need to do to take back control of California and get back their second amendment rights!
