Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)-  Gainesville City Schools in GA are requesting Colt 6920 M4 carbine rifles for school defense.

The Colt 6920 M4 carbine is a law enforcement version of the civilian AR-15. Capable of holding the same 30, 42, or 60 round magazines, but with a shorter barrel for quicker target acquisition. It also contains other features that make it “ideal for tactical deployment.”

According to KAKE.com, the carbines would be “locked in the vehicles of school resource officers when the school aren’t in session.” Moreover, they would be locked in safes “accessible by fingerprint recognition” and the only fingerprint programmed would be that of the resource officer.

Gainesville police approached Gainesville City Schools with this idea in April. It needs approval by the school board before it can be implemented.
