Wanamassa, NJ (Ammoland.com) – Eagle Imports, Inc., importers of the popular Bersa line of firearms and exclusive distributor of the Metro Arms family, announces the sponsorship of two international shooting champions for Bersa and S.P.S.
Gaston Quindi Vallegra, of Buenos Aires, Argentina, three-time IPSC Argentine Champion and Practical Shooting Pan-American Champion, is the new Bersa competitive shooting representative.
Gaston recently took home the Production Division title using a Bersa on Nov. 23, 2013 at the Argentine National Match.
This was his third championship and first with the extremely reliable Bersa pistol. At 32-years old, Gaston is relatively new to the competitive shooting scene having participated in his first competition just 5-years ago.
Within a very short time Gaston became the Latin American Vice Champion in Argentina and trained for the 2011 World Shoot in Greece. In 2012, Gaston earned his first major Practical Shooting Pan-American Champion title and placed second overall. Looking to join forces with a world leading firearms manufacturer, Gaston has partnered with Bersa Firearms. Shooting a Bersa Thunder 9 Pro, Gaston has recently won 4th place in the 2013 US IPSC Nationals and became a Grand Master in the 2013 USPSA Production Nationals. Gaston’s goal is to continue to work toward becoming a World Class IPSC/USPSA Shooter with a Bersa in his hands.
Gorka Ibañez became interested in shooting at the age of 12 while watching his father practice. At the age of 19, Gorka participated in the Bali World Shoot and was awarded 6th place in the junior division. A competitor was born. Since 2010 Gorka has traveled with the Spanish team to his second World Shoot in Greece where the team placed third and Gorka became distinguished as one of the top 20 shooters in the world.
Recently, Gorka has switched to the Standard category with the aid of his sponsor, S.P.S., resulting in winning the second position in Spain in less than a year. He is currently training to compete in the upcoming 2014 World Shoot in Florida using an S.P.S. pistol.
