FAIRFAX, Va. –-(Ammoland.com)- Attendees of the Great American Outdoor Show, held February 1-9 2014 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, will have access to a host of new, interactive events thanks to improvements made by the National Rifle Association.
Families attending the show will have the opportunity for group fun at the Family Fun Zone in the concourse around the complex’s large arena. Held during show hours February 1-9, the Family Fun Zone features stations for camouflage face painting, Laser Shot, suction cup archery, magnetic fishing, Eddie Eagle, duck calling, and more.
“The Family Fun Zone is a great place for mothers, fathers, daughters, and sons to test their accuracy, knowledge and creativity in a fun-filled environment,” said Jeff Poole, NRA Shows & Exhibits Managing Director. “The kids can compete and win prizes in many outdoor-themed events designed to peak their interest in the outdoor lifestyle.”
Additional show events include game calling contests, daily 3D archery competitions, an air gun range, a fly casting pond, archery tag and much more. The Great American Outdoor Show also features over 100 seminars and demonstrations on topics from hunting and fishing to dog training and trick shooting. The show’s Family Day, held February 2, will introduce special family-oriented archery and air gun activities and more. Friends of NRA’s popular Wall of Guns game will be held throughout the show in the main corridor, offering winners a choice between more than 50 firearms. Headlining the final weekend is a concert by country superstar Trace Adkins, presented by NRA Country.
On February 7, sportsmen and women will have the opportunity to attend The NRA Foundation Banquet, celebrating freedom with a night of fun, food, and firearms. Located in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex’s PA Preferred Ballroom, the banquet will raise funds for local, state and national programs dedicated to promoting America’s shooting sports traditions.
“The nation's largest charity in support of the shooting sports, The NRA Foundation, is thrilled to now be a part of the largest outdoor show in the country,” said Sarah Budi, Director of Volunteer Fundraising. “We can't wait to bring our brand of fundraising to show attendees and industry supporters who are just as passionate about the shooting sports and the outdoors.”
The Great American Outdoor Show celebrates the outdoor traditions treasured by millions of Americans and their families in 650,000 square feet of exhibit space that will feature nearly 1,100 exhibitors, including shooting manufacturers, outfitters, boats, RVs, hunting and fishing retailers, and much more. This year’s show will expand the presence of firearms, including Modern Sporting Rifles, with the addition of a shooting sports section that will join the traditional hunting, fishing, archery, camping, and boating areas.
