The newest addition to the Springfield Armory line of XD pistols, the XD-STM 4.0 9mm was introduced at SHOT Show 2014 to editorial acclaim. It features a longer sight radius for improved accuracy and increased muzzle velocity while offering less felt recoil and faster follow-up shot capability. The included full size magazine with Mag X-TensionTM provides the option for added capacity, comfort, control and confidence. The XD-STM 4.0 9mm adds 0.7-inches to the barrel while adding only 2 ounces of weight, making it light and easy to carry without affecting IWB holster fit.
It debuts just one year after the introduction of the game changing XD-STM 3.3 9mm and two years after the 2013 Golden Bullseye Award winning XD-STM line was launched with the original in .45 ACP. With a slim, single stack frame at only 1-in. wide, the XD-STM delivers all the high powered performance with superior control and comfort, without sacrificing important safety features. The design offers a single-position Picatinny rail, making this one of the only pistols of its size that can be accessorized with lights and lasers.
“As one of the oldest names in American firearms, we share a deep heritage and passion for the shooting sports with the members of USA Shooting,” said Denny Reese, Co-Chairman of Springfield Armory. “It is our pleasure to put the excitement of the launch of our new XD-S 4.0 to work for the USA Shooting Team to help them train and ultimately achieve the Olympic dream.”
“We’ve been an avid supporter of USA Shooting through the years and are thrilled to be in a position to bring two of our best partners together to advance the national passion for the shooting sports,” said Don Hall, GunBroker.com COO.
“Special thanks to Springfield Armory for supporting the USA Shooting Team with this unique auction item,” said Buddy DuVall, Executive Director of USA Shooting Team Foundation. “2014 is a huge year for USA Shooting as Olympic qualification begins with the World Championships in September and the Championships of the Americas in October. Efforts by industry leaders like GunBroker.com and Springfield Armory help us in our goal of earning a spot on the victory podium.”
About Springfield Armory
The first name in American firearms, Springfield Armory began when George Washington ordered its creation in 1777 to store revolutionary ammunition and gun carriages. In 1794 the armory began the manufacture of muskets for a young country. For the next 150 years, Springfield Armory functioned as a supplier for every major American conflict as well as a “think tank” for new firearm concepts. After a brief closure from 1968 to 1974, a passionate family by the name of Reese rescued not only the name “Springfield Armory,” but the philosophy that drove it for centuries. With reverence for the legacy of the Armory, the Reese family resurrected the most historically significant designs produced by The Armory- M1 Garand, 1911-A1, M1A -and fueled by the same obsession for improved manufacturing techniques and cutting edge design that inspired the likes of John C. Garand, and John Browning. Today Springfield Armory continues to develop products that are loyal to its heritage while ensuring The Armory’s future with such innovations as the category leading XD, XD(M) and the game changing XD-S polymer pistols.
