Arizona – -(Ammoland.com)- Travis County, Texas, the home of the State Capitol, Austin, is one of the most “progressive” areas of the state.

The county commissioners have shown that they have no respect for constitutional rights, and would like to ban gun shows in the county if they could.

They attempted to use contract law to weasel around the limitations placed on them by federal and state law.  But, they have been a bit conflicted, because to do so would significantly reduce revenues to the County.

Their politically correct pandering has had a result, whether they desire it or not.  It has been estimated that loss of the event will cost the county  $800,000 annually, of which $100,000 is direct rent on the Expo Center.

One of the most comprehensive comparisons of highly regulated gun shows in California versus gun shows with little regulation in Texas, showed that Texas guns shows not only did not increase crime, but were associated with a slight drop in murders.

The Saxet gun show, which used to be held in the Travis County Expo Center, was driven away by the unreasoning hostility to Constitutional rights and the rule of law shown by ideologues.   The show will now be held at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center.  The first show at the new venue will be held on March 29th and 30th.

Travis County cannot print money like the Federal Reserve, so direct attacks on freedom tend to result in direct and immediate consequences.

It is understandable why democrat/liberal/progress types are so anti-firearm. Democrats don’t keep company with conservative firearm owners, therefore they think that all firearm owners are as crazy, irrational, irresponsible, and unprincipled as the democrats with whom they regularly associate. Democrats cannot fathom that most crimes are committed by non-conservatives and that virtually all mass shooting have been carried out by democrat supporters/constituents. Most democrats are not criminals but most criminals are democrats. Keep firearms out of the hands of democrat constituents and crime will plummet.

I just put the event on my calendar to attend. I don’t like going to Austin, just because of the overall hostility towards gun owners from the commissioners down to the cops. The cops are especially hostile to conceal carry. So, if I can avoid Austin, I do. See some of you in DS on the 29th.

Basically, —-k Travis County.
we should all show up in Dripping Springs to show our support. And buy something!

Brian

Williamson county will gladly welcome the gun show!

The bigger question is where is the county going to go to replace the almost 1 million dollars in revenue loss? There will also be another loss in food establishments losing sales since the gun show patrons will not be coming to Austin, myself included, for the gun show. I come to it about 4 times a year so now Dripping Springs will get my money. It also will affect the appropriate sales tax loss. So all in all I am sure it is well over a million dollars total loss of revenue. And you know that the county is… Read more »

Travis County is where a good bit of our “fruits, nuts, and flakes” live, here in Texas. A recall election probably would not change anything locally. Texas is a Red state though, and that won’t change. Less than 25% of Texas residents are libturds, however, Austin has a majority of them.

Maybe they can hold an outdoor gun show on a grassy knoll?

Larry

Maybe you Travis County residents need to have a recall election on your county commissioners!

Is this an example of Provincialism or what corporate IT types refer to as an “ID10T” error?

Is this a crafty way to get c rooks to emigrate to Travis County for easy pickings

This action is just the latest in a long history of local hostility. During the 80’s & 90’s, gun shows were driven from city of Austin property by a series of moves to worse facilities and increasingly onerous regulation. They were driven from private facilities by city/police pressure on landlords. Now they are gone from Travis County, and I am unaware of any organized effort to make the city or the county commissioners pay any political price for this crap.
