WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Colt sponsored shooter Mark Redl walked away with a hearty victory at the USPSA Area 7 March Madness competition. Redl competed in the Single Stack Division and won the match with 677.5372 points.
This placed him more than 127 points, or almost 19 percent, higher than the second place competitor in his division.
“We are ecstatic that Mark has started off his 2014 competition season with such a strong showing,” said Joyce Rubino, Vice President of Marketing for Colt’s Manufacturing Company. “With his talent and dedication, Mark will surely continue this success in his upcoming events.”
Redl shot a Colt Combat Elite in .45 ACP at the Area 7 match. The Combat Elite is ideal for a combat-style match shooter, with features that include half checkered and half smooth rosewood grips, a Colt upswept beavertail grip safety with palm swell, a National Match barrel and Novak sights. Part of the XSE Series, the pistol foundation is a forged stainless steel receiver, a forged carbon steel slide, a forged stainless steel barrel and a forged stainless steel slide stop.
“This was one of those matches where everything lined up perfectly,” said Redl. “I am so excited to have kicked off the year with a solid shoot. This will set the tone for my year ahead in other USPSA matches and on the IDPA circuit, where I hope to defend my 2013 King of New England, Custom Pistol Division title.”
The USPSA Area 7 March Madness competition was held on March 16 at the Long Island Practical Shooters Association (LIPSA). There were seven stages, some of which were “Barrels of Fun,” “Desk Duty,” and “Twice the Fun” with two Texas stars.
Redl’s season picks up this spring with numerous USPSA and IDPA matches in May and June. Visit Facebook.com/ColtFirearms to follow Redl and other Team Colt shooters this year.
