New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- Dear Governor Christie,

Bills A2006 and S993 are unlikely to reduce the number of gun deaths in New Jersey. Mere possession of a 15 round capacity magazine for sporting purposes and/or home defense should not be a crime. We should concentrate our efforts on those individuals who use any capacity magazine to murder people.

If we wish to examine the correlation between gun deaths and magazine capacity higher than 10 rounds, we can safely ignore both accidents and suicides. In both of these cases, it is unlikely the individuals involved would fire more than one round. If we also eliminate justified shootings by police and those defending their lives and families, we are left primarily with a pool of criminal shooters. If someone is willing to murder another human, he or she is unlikely to be deterred by a 15 round capacity magazine ban.

In the meantime, if these bills are passed and signed by you, you will immediately create an entirely new class of criminals out of formerly law-abiding individuals. Those of us who have scrupulously obeyed the voluminous restrictions contained in the New Jersey Firearms Statutes will suddenly be in possession of items that were completely legal to possess prior to the imposition of these unnecessary additional restrictions. Hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of magazines and firearms will immediately become contraband. Enforcement will become a nightmare as well as an unnecessary provocation of otherwise completely law-abiding New Jersey residents. For what purpose?

We are not the individuals committing the murders you are trying to control. The signing of these bills into law will merely make us less able to defend our homes and families against criminal invasion.

There are far too many murders committed in our cities on a regular basis by gangs, drug dealers and career criminals. Both adults and children become the victims of these crimes. I am absolutely certain that concentrating Legislative, Judicial and Executive efforts on the reduction of poverty, drugs and crime in our cities would result in the reduction of far more murders than imposing further restrictions on law-abiding individuals.

We petition you to use the powers of your office to oppose bills A2006 and S993 simply because it is the correct thing to do.

Respectfully,
Frank Jack Fiamingo

This letter will make no difference,
They don’t ticket a rat’s ass about crime.
All they care about is disarming and controlling the people.
The entire state of NJ is culturally like a city.
Cities are shitholes because they are populated largely by people who gravitate towards the collective … sheeple who have no sense of independence or self-reliance live there in hopes that those motivated by their lust for power over others will grace them with a few crumbs and “protection” from the savages amongst them, in exchange for their obedience and servitude.

He did commute the sentence for that man who was arrested for having his personal firearms in his vehicle while he was moving back into NJ.

His case is on appeal but he still has the conviction and no guns and no visitation with his son. Nasty divorce.

I live in PA, and I will not go to NJ because they deny we law abiding citizens our God given right of self defense. Slave states like NJ, NY, MD, CT, MA, CA are shitholes because they are populated largely by people who gravitate towards the collective … sheeple who have no sense of independence or self-reliance live there in hopes that those motivated by their lust for power over others will grace them with a few crumbs and “protection” from the savages amongst them, in exchange for their obedience and servitude. My advice to the good people of… Read more »

Isn’t he trying to run for president? He already has the reputation as an “anti gun” governor from an “anti gun” state, right? Therefore, a veto could only help him lose that reputation and gain acceptance by those gun owners in between N.J. and Calif, right? Makes you wonder if there are really two parties?
