Guns Save Lives

Guns Save Lives

USA --(Ammoland.com)- Somewhere, everyday in the USA, 2100+ people use a gun for self defense, to stop a crime or save the lives of themselves or their family.

“We believe that the American public deserve to understand that on the average, guns save 2,191 lives and are used to thwart crimes every day,” says Alan Gottlieb of the Second Amendment Foundation

Most times you won’t see these tales on the news as it does not fit the main stream media’s story line of “Guns and Gun Owners are Bad“.

This is just one of those stories;

Jeff Gegelman was at home in Golden Valley, N.D. when three men in a car drove onto his property, then knocked on his door. Suspicious, Gegelman retrieved a .22-caliber pistol and watched as the men returned to the vehicle, and then as two of the men returned to the house. The pair of men then forced open the door, at which point Gegelman leveled his gun at the intruders and told them, “You came to the wrong house today.”

Gegelman and the home invaders exchanged fire, resulting in wounds to both Gegelman and one of the intruders. Following the exchange, the criminals fled, but not before Gegelman was able to record the license plate of the car they were driving. Police captured the wounded home invader a short time later, as he was seeking medical attention.

Gegelman has been released from the hospital, and has told a local news outlet that he intends to acquire “a bigger gun and more bullets.” (The Bismarck Tribune, Bismarck, N.D. 03/31/14)

    1. And another guy learned the hard way…. .22lr is NOT a good choice for protection. While it is better than nothing, it should be your last choice.

    2. I hope he can find “bullets” for his “bigger” gun.

      Don’t “nitpick” the guy and his terminology. At least he is pro-self defense, and not a gun hater!!

    4. If he’d skipped the Hollywood-style ad lib and just shot, he might not have been injured. Even so, a .45 would have been more convincing to his opponents, and just shucking a 12 gauge might have cleared his home without shots fired.

    5. shot placement critical even in a larger gun.

    6. @Gunsmithtress – Have you tried to buy ammunition lately! Who’s “nitpicking”?

    7. I would be more than happy to give mr. gegelman the rounds, bullets, ammo, or any other name you want to call it for any handgun he chooses. one against two, or three, not good odds, but he stood his ground, and defended his property, and even got to wound one, you gotta love that. he has my total respect, and should be glad he had total awareness of his surroundings.

      As I was taught while on guard duty in the military, shouting out the word “Halt” will quite often stop intruders in their tracks, without a shot being fired.

    9. “Don’t make me shoot you” works good too!
