Bloomberg’s Focus on Gun Restrictions Throws Down Gauntlet to Conservatives

Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)-  If Michael Bloomberg’s pledge of $50 million to beat the NRA and his aggressive funding of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (MDA), and now “Everytown for Gun Safety” teach conservatives anything, it’s that a tunnel-vision-like focus on Obamacare is a loser in November.

Conservatives are going to have to take up gun rights. They are going to have to champion and proudly own them as an expression of their commitment to the natural rights of the people defined in the Bill of Rights.

Bloomberg is making it clear he will be taking up gun rights from another angle: deriding and proudly championing further restrictions and regulations on the exercise of Second Amendment rights.

During an April 16th 2014 appearance on NBC’s Today show, Bloomberg said:

[Politicians] will vote for whatever they think is in their own self interest to get elected and re-elected. We’ve got to convince them that 80 percent of gun owners… [and] 90 percent of Americans… are in favor of just simple background checks… we’ve got to make them understand that that’s what the public wants and the public’s going to vote that way.

Conservatives must answer not only by standing for Second Amendment rights but by showing that the numbers Bloomberg quotes are not accurate. Yes, support for gun control was high immediately following the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary, but by December 2013 Breitbart News reported a CNN poll showing opposition to gun control had grown by 23 percent. Moreover, the percentage of those who supported more gun control formed less than a majority at 49 percent.

The bottom line– gun rights are a winner for conservatives. They are path forward for a Republican party that wants to win the Senate and hold the House.

Make no mistake, when Bloomberg pledges $50 million to beat the NRA in November he is really pledging $50 million to cripple gun rights. It is time for conservatives to stand and fight.

    1. The politicians will tell Nannyberg to go pound sand. THEY know who supports what. It’s their offices that field the phone calls. When considering the Manchin-Toomey infringement, congressmen were reporting constituent response averaging 8:1 AGAINST.

Go ahead, Bloomy. Lie to the politicians. And get thrown out on your rump for the whole world to observe and admire in great delight.

    2. Bloomberg reminds me of the fictional character who jousts with windmills.

The main problem I see when politicians like Bloomberg say that we all want “simple background checks” is that they neglect to define terms.
We have “simple background checks” now. What Bloomberg and Obama want is a very extensive background check system that would include any and all interactions with any mental health professional, with any law enforcement or judicial system member, and God know what else, and to use them all as a disqualifier. And the people simply don’t understand that.

Support and Defend the Constitution of the United States against all ENEMIES, foreign and DOMESTIC! The latter of which includes Bozo’s who believe their money and thus, political position in life, will keep American’s from exercising the rights guaranteed by the Country’s Founding Fathers. Thomas J. so tactfully said: ” The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants; for it is it’s own natural manure”! His agricultural knowledge surely let us know where the best “dung” would be!

    5. Bloomerbug thinks his money can buy a majority of the public. The Revolution sent the British Packing back to England He is supporting B.O. along with George Soros These people just want to control every aspect of your life. There is always going to be soomeone who will believe then .HEY its not just conservatives that believe in LIBERTY. OUR Constatution and Bill of rights is the reason why so many are trying to come here. Its the reason why we have so many Illegals They want to be free Too Kick the bums out.

    6. What must be insanely wrong with people that they would be so radically against people defending themselves from thugs and other miscreants , mostly created by people like themselves ?

    7. Recently I my VA disability benefits were upgraded from 50% to 100% by the VA. In a letter telling me of this award I was also told that they were considering taking away my 2nd amendment rights because they deemed me incompetent to handle my financial affairs. I was competent to handle them at 50% but not at 100%. Since then I have gotten 2 of my VA doctors to say that I was competent to handle my financial affairs, a certified letter from my wife saying that I handle our finances, and I fired off a smoking email to my congressmen about it, today. I hope my 2 VA doctors still have jobs and they were brave to have written these statements. I see this as a back door by Obummer, to remove guns from the hands of vets in a wide sweep that will basically make criminals of millions of us. In over 40 yrs. since I had problems from being in the army, I have never harmed anyone or myself but the VA wants to take away my guns before I have done anything, been charged or convicted of anything.

Bloomberg spent millions in Colorado to stop the recall of legislators who violated the Second Amendment…and HE LOST. He no longer has political power. His Mayors against “illegal guns” campaign is a failure, as evidenced by his new thrust for “gun safety”. Just go away. Your money can not overcome FREEDOM.

    9. It is NOT a conservative issue as stated. It is a Constitutional freedom preserving issue. Here we have a super rich dwarf (with a little mans complex), a Jew–who has forgotten or just does not care what happened to the Jews in Nazi Germany under their gun control laws.

Of course all freedom-loving Americans who really enjoy the social media thing should immediately find and join Bloomberg’s Everytown forums and patiently explain their pro-liberty position to Bloomberg’s drones. Throw megabytes at their servers. Cause others to ferociously spill their emotional non-sequitur arguments in response for all to see.

Spend HIS money wisely. And of course contribute to the NRA, the Second Amendment foundation and other pro-liberty organizations.

Blooming-idotberg wants us to live in his version of socialistic-communist country with him and others like him setting the laws!! Do Americans want that?? NO!!

    12. Mayors against lawful ownership is what it is. Mayors protecting criminals. Somebody should tell Bloomberg that if gun confiscation worked, The U.S Virgin Islands and Chicago would be safe cities. The Virgin Islands has the highest per-capita homicide rate. and the strictest gun control laws.
