Washington DC - -( During an April 20th 2014 appearance on ABC’s This Week, former justice John Paul Stevens said each of his proposals to change the Constitution – including his proposal to change the Second Amendment – “is a moderate proposal.”

On April 11th Breitbart News reported that Stevens uses his new book, Six Amendments: How and Why We Should Change The Constitution, to argue that we should add five words to the Second Amendment to correct its interpretation – namely to ensure that it is interpreted as a collective right rather than an individual one.

The Second Amendment currently reads:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Stevens want to change it to:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms when serving in the Militia shall not be infringed.

During his appearance on This Week, Stevens said the change in the Second Amendment “would merely prevent arguments being made that Congress doesn’t have the power to do what they think is in the best public interest.”

However, as ABC News reported:

The last state militia was disbanded in 1866, so no one would be covered by Stevens’ new amendment. In other words, the government would face no restrictions in its ability to ban or regulate the ownership or use of guns.

      Stevens is a dolt.

    4. Justice Stevens’ views in the Heller dissent, which directly conflict with those of the founders, are documented at On Second Opinion Blog in a new series of posts. The first part of the series is titled Justice Stevens’ Train Wreck of American History. So far, five parts are posted with more on the way.

    5. The only reason he is getting any attention is because of his newest book, I’m not going to write the title here.

I got a better idea, how about term limits for SCOTUS and Congress, two terms max.

He probably thinks ” having to pass it before we see what’s in it” is congress acting in the best interest’s of Americans also. The senile Dolt. I just heard sodomiyzer did a dandy rebuttal of the Michigan case also. 58 pages of socialist diatribe. You’d think a person that fled Castro with here family would know better I guess you really cant fix stupid.

    7. If you look up ‘Alzheimer’s disease’ in the dictionary you might see Steven’s picture there? Then again, you might see a whole “rogues’ gallery” of politicians? LOL
