Washington DC - -(  On May 9 2014 New Jersey state senator Loretta Weinberg (D-37) told MSNBC that she and fellow lawmakers would “reverse” a 2002 law limiting gun sales to smart guns “only if the National Rifle Association (NRA) vows not to try to stop the…manufacture or sale of smart guns.”

Breitbart News reported that the 2002 is designed to go into effect three years after a “viable” smart gun is available on the retail market. Once in effect, the law states that “no other type of handgun shall be sold or offered for sale by any registered or licensed firearm dealer in this state.”

Smart gun proponents have seized on the Armatix iP1 as the “viable” smart gun to trigger the law, although the gun is only chambered in .22 long rifle, costs $1,800 a gun, and is already being targeted by tech companies who are working on ways to jam the gun electronically, so that it will not fire.

Gun rights proponents in New Jersey have opposed the marketing of the gun because they do not want to be forced to buy it and be further forced to depend on it to defend their lives or property.

However, reports that state senator Weinberg –the same senator who sponsored the magazine ban that also bans many .22 rifles– says she and her colleagues will change the law if the NRA will simply allow the Armatix iP1 or another smart gun to reach the market place.

Weinberg will hold the gun rights of New Jersey citizens hostage until then.

New Jersey State Senator Loretta Weinberg (D-37) .. needs to be watched very carefully; do you see how fast after the “election” a bill which was previously tabled became a hot ticket item once the elections were over in a hotly contested area of the state.. even if its repealed, I guarantee the New Jersey law mandating smart gun technology will rear its ugly head once that firearm becomes available in the US.. She is a LIAR and a cheat.. and not to be trusted..

    2. I’m sure she’s figuring Charlie Brown will take one more chance at kicking that football.

    3. of course coming from a self proclaimed politic that does not honor the American code of Honor,, working against the Americans interest but only fighting for ones self indulgent self righteousness only to look like fools in the eyes of all the American people and for that matter the whole world over…this and all forms of government was and is created by the people for the people of the people so in all purposes government employees are owned and run by the American people and should nor neither be infringed so as long as living people are alive on American soil or soils rather it being of domestic or foreign!!!!!!!!!!our forever given rights cannot be stricken nor taken from our American lifes

To bad the NJ Dems can’t put the same effort into lowering property taxes and trying to attract business’s/jobs into NJ as they are trying to screw law abiding gun owners with these BS anti-gun laws. I can see the gang-bangers here rushing to NJ gun stores to buy 10rd mags and surrendering all of their hi-cap mag .22 rifles at the next gun buy back.
Personally, I can’t wait to leave this Marxists run Cesspool of a state….

    5. Gee, I think I see a trend – democrats / socialists who treat their oath of office as meaningless – which makes them liars and untrustworthy. One might wonder how they got elected in the first place. Remember, guns are more American than apple pie.

    6. This is a sucker play for the NRA. If they give an inch, they will get shafted again and again and again. They say that we should save the girls that are held hostage in Nigeria but leave the citizens of NJ as hostages. If the Nigerians had had firearms, there would have been no hostages, only dead or captured terrorists. When will the world ever learn that gun-free zones are free-victim zones. NJ will be that way soon, if not already.

Just say NO to smart guns until the technology is well proven by Law Enforcement. Face it, the people most likely to have their own weapons used against them are police officers. Make them carry “smart” tech guns for 5 years with no issues before pushing this on citizens. Even then…

All “smart guns” to date rely on electric and/or electronic components. That means use of a battery – a device invented in 1887 that remains little changed today. For all its history, the long-term reliability of batteries has been an issue. It gave rise to the statement “A flashlight is a container for dead batteries.”

The requirement to sell only guns with a new, “bleeding edge” technology only serves to raise the price of firearms (as we’ve already seen) and is akin to the racist Democrat-inspired “Army Pistol” laws in the post civil-war south. It only serves to disenfranchise the poor from exercising their rights.
