Whose Side Are You On?

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

“Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come to me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.” Exodus 32:26

Wisconsin  –-(Ammoland.com)- At the March 2013 Wisconsin Christian News (WCN) Ministry Expo, a lady from another booth came up to me and said, “You guys are on our side, right?” I answered, “The Constitution Party of Wisconsin (CPoW) means to do our duty on God’s side, and as I trust you think the same way.”

I understand her concern, there are people who purport to be “on our side,” and yet they advocate opposing views.

Charles Krauthammer, in a Washington Post article, titled, “The roots of mass murder,” states, “I have no problem in principle with gun control. Congress enacted and I supported an assault weapons ban in 1994. The problem was it didn’t work. The reason is simple. Unless you are prepared to confiscate all existing firearms, disarm the citizenry and repeal the Second Amendment, it is almost impossible to craft an effective law.” Great Britain did precisely that in 1996 and has more violence of all kinds, not less.

Krauthammer is not the only “conservative” in favor of gun control, John and Sarah Brady were Republicans.

I could give many examples, but I will be brief. Chris Christy favors “gay rights.” Michele Bachman thinks everyone should pay the Income Tax, when no one should have to pay an income tax. How many “fiscal conservatives” are “pro-choice,” such as Alberta Darling and John McCain?

Here is my point, when you unite with people who are your enemies on fundamental issues and help elect them, you have elected your enemy, who will “sell you out,” every time you count on him to do “the right thing,” strict-construction notwithstanding. You have deluded yourself about the nature of such a person. Lacking accountability, any person can claim a party endorsement, and depart from that party’s platform. So you, as the conservative base will be let down, and betrayed time and time again, because you refused to face the facts about that person you helped elect.

We are putting the rubber to the road, here at the Constitution Party of Wisconsin. We have an extensive vetting committee which examines every prospective Candidate’s views, not just in word, but in deed. Furthermore, we have defined our Fundamental Tenets, which if violated will trigger a disciplinary process, and if not remedied will lead to expulsion from our party. We don’t endorse everyone who comes to us. In most races there is no CPoW man currently, and we try to use a certain amount of wisdom in deciding which races to place our candidates. We always do our level best to make sure our candidates are solid candidates.

Regarding our Platforms Fundamental tenets, here they are: Acknowledge God. Secure the Right to Life, protecting individual human life from fertilization to natural death, and permitting only non-embryonic stem cell research. Protect Family Life: Protecting the sanctity of one-man-one woman marriage and eliminating state intervention in family life, except with court intervention. Restore the Republic and Moral Order: By returning to the US Constitution, rooted in Biblical Law, as originally intended and as amended and by adherence to the 10 Commandments. Protect National Sovereignty: Defending our US Borders against invasion, including migration. Withdrawing from the United Nations and prohibiting any participation in any world government organization or court. Preserve State Sovereignty Restoring the US Constitution’s limitations on US Government power. Secure the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, as stated in the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. Restore Economic and Personal Freedom: Defending private property, supporting free enterprise and prohibiting socialized medicine.

“rooted in Biblical Law, as originally intended and as amended and by adherence to the 10 Commandments”

This is why I will never support the Constitution Party. They attribute things to it that are false. Religion has no place in government.
