Charlotte, NC –-(Ammoland.com)- Yesterday, anti-gun Senate Bill 53 passed in the Assembly Public Safety Committee by a 5 to 2 vote.

SB 53 will now go to the Assembly floor where it could be considered at anytime.  It is CRITICAL that you contact your state Assemblyman TODAY and urge him or her to OPPOSE this egregious legislation.  Contact information for your state legislator can be found here.

SB 53 would require the purchasers of ammunition to register with the state Department of Justice (DOJ) prior to purchasing any ammunition.  This registration would require the submission of fingerprints, a background check and fees to the DOJ.  If passed and enacted into law, SB 53 would require the collection and reporting of personal consumer information and thumbprinting for all ammunition purchases throughout the state.  It would also ban online and mail-order sales of all ammunition, including hunting and collectible ammunition.  In addition, SB 53 would require anyone wishing to exercise their fundamental right to keep and bear arms to obtain a costly ammunition purchaser permit that must be renewed every two years.

In doing so, SB 53 would impose drastic and unjustified restrictions on law-abiding gun owners while doing nothing to reduce violent crime.

Here are some talking points you can use to oppose SB 53 when talking to or e-mailing your state Assemblyman.

Ammunition registration was repealed by Congress as part of the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986.

  • Ammunition registration was repealed by Congress as part of the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986.
  • SB 53 imposes identical restrictions on “handgun” ammunition to those contained in AB962.  Signed into law in 2009, AB 962 has yet to be enforced due to the pending lawsuit Parker v. California in the California Supreme Court.
  • In 2011, Governor Brown vetoed similar legislation sponsored by Senator de Leon.  Governor Brown instructed that another ammunition registration bill should not be considered prior to the resolution of Parker v. California.

Again, it is CRITICAL that you contact your state Assemblyman TODAY and urge him or her to OPPOSE this egregious legislation.  Contact information for your state legislator can be found here.

Please forward this critical alert to your family, friends and fellow gun owners and sportsmen in California urging them to call their state Assemblyman also.  California is going to need everyone to help save its Second Amendment rights.

I am sensing a potential fortune to be made smuggling ammo into Commiefornia soon.

The criminal element will not comply with this foolish feel good legislation.

I don’t believe there are any talking points for this. California politicians become elitists within 2 minutes of taking office. They suddenly know more than their constituents, have ‘better intentions’ than their constituents, and flat-out ignore their constituents’ wishes. They are now above the law. If you want to combat this crap, you need to vote with your feet. Period.

Craig, my question is: At what point will the people of Kalifornistan decide that they have had enough, storm the capitol, tar and feather the communist tyrants dictating from there, and take the state back to Freedom?

Craig

At what point do the citizens of CA have enough data to sue the state over “shall not be infringed”?

Live Free via Non-Compliance!

RDNK and Vanns40 have the solution to all this California legal nonsense. It amounts to living free via non-compliance. For years civil disobedience was a tool of the ‘Left’, the very people who now want to curtail your rights. Frankly I’m tired of all their hypocrisy, double standards, and ‘special citizen’ classes they’ve championed.

Vanns40

As a retired LEO I rarely advocate breaking the law, however, RDNK has it exactly right. That said I would strongly suggest gun owners find any way possible to leave to a neighboring State. Do anything you have to. Before you say you can’t, sit down and figure up how much you pay in taxes, on everything, then figure what you’d save over a five year period. Now factor in the freedoms you gain. Can you suffer a little in the short term for a lifetime gain? Up to you.

RDNK

Like I said before,if people who live in Kalifornia absolutely have to stay or can’t leave that F*cked up state go to next door to Arizona and buy a truckload of ammo with cash ! When you get back to that F*cked up state hide that ammo and keep your pie hole shut !!! Do the same for firearm parts, acces, etc…. anything firearm related ! If you happen to have any firearms that the tyrannists dont know nothing about keep it that way !
