Rancho Cucamonga, CA -( Recipient of Outdoor Life’s 2014 “Editor’s Choice” Award, Alpen Optics new Rainier 25-75×86 spotting scope won both the low-light and resolution tests in the spotting scope category.

Featuring a 45-degree eyepiece, the Rainier 25-75×86 spotting scope is designed with ED HD technology, which utilizes extra-low dispersion, high-definition optics to provide superb optical clarity and color fidelity, giving it that wow factor.

UBX fully multi-coated optics, BaK4 prisms and SHR metallic coating combine to provide the brightest and sharpest image possible. The large 86mm objective lenses collect huge amounts of light that allow the high-magnification zoom lens elements to deliver a clear and sharp image. Rainier spotting scopes offer an adjustable body collar allowing you to turn the scope for optimal positioning when viewing astronomical or terrestrial objects. O-ring sealed and nitrogen-filled fully waterproof and fog-proof construction allow use in any weather condition.

According to Outdoor Life editors, the Ranier’s aluminum-alloy body, dual-speed focus and crisp extra-low-dispersion glass make it a great all-around hunting scope, while the workmanship, quality of glass and durability make it worthy of the “Editor’s Choice” Award.

    1. I’ll stick with my Leupold Mark 4 Tactical 12×40 with mildot reticle.
Under normal conditions one almost never needs anything greater than 40x. In fact for hunting I rarely go to that magnification. Having the reticle in the front focal plane allows you to range whatever it is you’re after at whatever power you happen to be at. I also use a laser range finder but often you can’t accurately range at the distance you observe an animal.
Different strokes……….the Leupold Mark 4 Tactical is a proven entity under the worst possible conditions.
