Florida – -(Ammoland.com)- It is a political agenda to ban guns.

Despite the current smokescreen deployed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Medical Association, one need only remember the policy statements and instructions posted on the AAP’s website years before passage of Florida’s “Docs vs. Glocks” law — which was upheld recently by a federal appeals court — and still found there today:

“The most effective way to prevent firearm-related injury to children is to keep guns out of homes and communities. The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly supports gun-control legislation. We believe that handguns, deadly air guns and assault weapons should be banned.

“Until handguns are banned, we recommend that handguns and handgun ammunition be regulated, that restrictions be placed on handgun ownership, and that the number of privately owned handguns be reduced. Firearms should be removed from the environments where children live and play …”

And on their page with instructions for advice to parents they wrote:

“Never have a gun in the home. Do not purchase a gun, especially a handgun. Remove all guns present in the home.”

Those are THEIR words. It is a telling expression of their real agenda. Their phrases and use of words such as “gun safety” and “keeping children safe” are designed to feign a lofty message — but the fact remains that those words are merely political eye wash in an attempt to justify their agenda.

Physicians who genuinely wish to offer safety information can simply hand out firearms safety and safe-storage brochures to all patients. Interrogating parents and children about what they own or have in the home is not only an intrusion but is a violation of privacy rights.

Parents do not take their children to physicians for a political lecture against the ownership of firearms; they go there for medical care.

Physicians should “first do no harm” and keep their political opinions out of examining rooms and on the golf course where it belongs.

deprogramming services

I haven’t encountered this, but if a doctor does decide he wants to debate me on having guns in my house, I’ll be more than happy to have that debate; it might have a deprogramming effect on him. Providing that is I’m not having to pay extra for the extra time the debate will take (he should have to pay for his own deprogramming).

Do doctors tell us to get rid of boats, swimming pools, and bicycles too?

Dr Dave

Yes there is no doubt that the Pediatric community wants guns to be removed from houses. The REAL reason for them to ask was not to elicit a discussion about gun safety it was to add the answer to the patients electronic medical record. As a surgeon who only deals in the head and neck region I have had many cases where discussing the use of a gun after surgery was needed. I never however ASKED if they had one I ASSUMED they did and explained that “for the next 8 weeks no firing a weapon from the surgical side”… Read more »

So, little Dockie Doc–if a low-information-BO-voter busts through my door and kills my wife and kids because you say there should not be a gun in the house to defend us, can I file a $10M claim against your malpractice insurance. That is what they call the advice you are giving–MALPRACTICE! Everyone who knows someone who has been injured by these med-school-drop-out-jerk-wads’ advice should help them file against these quacks for all they are worth! And take their 450SL’s and Beemers too!

The primary directive of obfuscation: Deny! Deny! Deny! “No guns at my house”, whether there are or there aren’t.

Chuck

Just play stupid and claim you don’t know what a gun is. After a few rounds of that they will leave you alone.

Herb

If asked by a doctor if you own a gun, why not ask the doctor if he or she has a gun, where is it kept and if it is unloaded? Even better if the gun is at least partially disassembled. I answer intrusive questions like this with a simple “NO.” BTW, guns are more American than apple pie.

What happened to Doctor/patient confidentiality? Isn’t it against the law to reveal confidential information to a third party? Or is that one of those bothersome laws that was overturned for “the greater good”? The rights of the individual must be sacrificed for the benefit of the masses…it has been tried many times in the past, always with disastrous results. Lenin tried it in Russia. Mao in China. I don’ t care HOW much I like my Doctor, if he starts asking invasive questions solely for the purpose of informing local authorities, no matter how well intentioned, then he is no… Read more »

Everyone I know was raised with a firearm in the house. We also were taught its not a toy get an adult . 45 years later nothing has changed except telling the doctor, I dont tell you how to treat patients, so don’t tell me about firearms.

Mike

I would say, “none ya”. But the VA does this to returning combat vet in almost all medical visits! It’s crazy these gun grabbers want to know who has guns, as soon as the have a large enough list then they will be able to begin they’re confiscation operations.

Just look at how they did it in the UK and Australia. This is a mirror image of those crimes against the citizens of the UK & Austalia!

I 2’nd Marc’s post !

I really do not see any legit medical reaso for a doctor of any type to be asking about guns in the home at all unless they are treating a GSW or other firearm related injury. I would not answer any questions about guns in my home any more than answering someone who wanted to know about what kind of TV I own or what kind of shampoo I use. It’s my business and no one elses!

While not advocating for abortion, the docs now want to safe kids by destroying 2A.

Why don’t you move to North Korea were only the army has the guns. You will love it there.
