Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- On August 4 2014, Sheriff Larry Rollins of Harnett County in North Carolina said he always carries a gun–even off-duty–to protect himself and his family, and he wants citizens of the county to adopt the same habit.
Rollins made these statements while speaking at a community meeting to address the surging crime in Harnett County in recent weeks.
According to FOX 8 WGHP, Rollins said, “The violence is fueled by gangs and drugs,” adding that citizens who dial 911 need to be able to protect themselves until police arrive.
When I’m out with my family, even though I’m a cop, I don’t go anywhere without a gun. I mean it’s sad we have to have that attitude, but I am going to protect myself and my family. I want my deputies at your house as fast as they can when you got a problem, but you better be able to take care of business until we get there if you have to protect your family.
