A Letter From The President Of Maryland Shall Issue

Maryland ––(Ammoland.com)- First, I would like to thank everyone that attended both the Executive Member and general meetings at the https://www.vcdl.org/webapps/vcdl/2017leg.html (MSI) annual meeting on September 20 2014.

As most of you know, the annual EM meeting is the election of officers and three board members for the Board of Directors.

The Board members elected to three year terms are: B. Bowers, P. Sill and M. Golczewski. Also elected as board member was Patrick Shomo, to serve out the remaining two years for Dr. George Durst.

The Officers elected for the next year are as follows: President – Dan Blasberg, Vice-President – Dr. George Durst, Secretary – Bill Sutton, Treasurer – Jacqueline Kahn.

I would like to take a moment to thank Patrick for all he has done and especially for his leadership during the 2013 and 2014 legislative sessions. Without him at the helm, this organization could not have done as much as it did during the 2013 session and the fight against FSA2013. I have some fairly big shoes to fill, at least in my view, and I will do my best to provide the leadership this organization deserves.

There were also many volunteers involved, with so many to mention I would prefer to acknowledge them as a whole, and not leave anyone out that I might forget. Maryland Shall Issue is an all volunteer organization, no one gets paid for their time, and we do what we can as we have time and resources.

Where do our volunteers come from?

You. our membership, their family and friends are the cornerstone of our existence and our mission. Without you, we are nothing.

My goal for MSI is to expand our membership and outreach activities, with a goal toward meeting and serving the people of Maryland who wish to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights in a fair and just system.

MSI will continue to grow this year and every year. We are here everyday – not just during a legislative session. We are proactive. Last year MSI teamed with other 2nd Amendment organizations to hold the first 2A legislative day called “2A Tuesday”. We didn’t react to the gun control -we got in front of it. 2A Tuesday is a day to remind our elected officials that we are still here and that the we are not going away. Our members came to visit their lawmakers, meet the organizations that represent them, and learn how to become citizen lobbyists. We will be doing this again for the 2015 session, so please keep an eye out for the date to be announced.

MSI is also representing you at public events. While most of you are used to seeing the MSI booth at gun shows, we need smart and capable people to expand beyond our current community. MSI is a constant at both the Towson Town Festival and Bowiefest. Last year MSI also added College Park Day and Burtonsville Day to the public schedule of events, and this year we have added Beltsville Day. If there is a public event you would like to see MSI at, please let us know and volunteer so that we can expand our rights-affirming message even further. If you would like to volunteer for an event, please contact us.

One final note: if you have ideas on how to make MSI successful, please let me know. If you have a good idea, both I and our Board want to know about it. I will make myself available to the membership as much as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have a question, comment, because the only way MSI has ever grown is by hearing constructive advice from the only people that matter – our membership.

Sincerely
Dan Blasberg

Mission Statement: Maryland Shall Issue is an all volunteer, non-partisan effort dedicated to the preservation and advancement of all gunowners’ rights in Maryland, with a primary goal of CCW reform to allow all law-abiding citizens the right to carry a concealed weapon; and to the education of the community to the awareness that ‘shall issue’ laws have, in all cases, resulted in decreased rates of violent crime. https://marylandshallissue.com/

To Dan Blasberg

Dan, thank you for taking your Saturday time to address our annual meeting of the Greenbelt Gun Club. I was really looking forward to your appearance, and was not disappointed. You have a fine organization, and we really appreciate all of your efforts on our behalf.
