New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- First of all, I would like to thank Don Taggart and Michael Georgas for their help today with the NJ2AS FULLY INFORMED JURY PROJECT in Atlantic County.
I am very pleased to report that everything went extremely smoothly.
My experience was that about 80% of the people who were offered the brochures gladly accepted them. Even those who didn’t were very pleasant. All the comments I received were quite positive. There were Sheriffs officers walking around from time to time, but no one questioned why we were there or what we were doing. Our First Amendment protected rights were fully respected.
I have to say, I was quite impressed. I am not sure what I expected, but after having participated this morning, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. If approached properly, It seems that most people want to know more about their rights. I found the simplest approach worked the best “Good morning, may I give you this brochure on juror rights”? Most people say sure and the ones who didn’t just said no thanks. It was really no stress at all.
I also want to say that I completely understand that not everyone can participate in every activity. I understand that people have to work, live too far away and have other responsibilities. My intention is not to make anyone uncomfortable when I ask for volunteers. However, with as many members and supporters as we have, it should be extremely rare that there are zero volunteers for a specific project. That is why the NJ2AS is organized as a Society and not a one-man show. There is a lot to do, but when the burden is shared, together we can accomplish a great deal.
I only ask that everyone makes a little extra effort to take a look and make sure that there is enough coverage for us to carry out our mission. If we all make a little extra effort from time to time, the same people will not have to volunteer as often and we will all benefit from the involvement. Thank you all for your help and involvement in the past, and I am looking to working with each one of you in the future.
