NEWINGTON, N.H. –-(Ammoland.com)-  SIG SAUER, Inc., wants to send a special congratulations to Max Michel, Jr., on his recent victory at the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) World Shoot Championship.

One of the most elite shooting tournaments in action pistol, the IPSC World Shoot is held every three years and draws teams of competitors from more than 80 countries to compete for team and individual titles in a variety of divisions. Michel took home the individual open division and high overall title.

A tight match from the start, Michel competed on more than 30 stages over six days to end up a mere 1.7359 match points, less than a percentage point, ahead of the runner-up.

“Without the support of everyone at SIG SAUER, I wouldn’t be able to devote my entire life to winning this single championship,” Michel said.

“The countless hours on the range, in the gym or preparing myself physically and mentally for this ultimate challenge wasn’t easy, but after coming so close in the past, I couldn’t end this match thinking I could’ve given just a little more. I gave it everything I had, and my family and friends have sacrificed a great deal to allow me to do what I do. It’s what I’ve always wanted since I was a little boy, going to the range with my dad. It feels like a dream come true.”

Along with teammates Shane Coley, K.C. Eusebio and Chris Tilley, Michel also brought home the Gold Medal for Team USA. The members of the U.S. team took three of the top four slots. This year’s match marked the first time in more than 30 years the match was held in the United States.

“All of us here at SIG SAUER could not be more proud of Max and his accomplishments,” said Bud Fini, Vice President of Marketing for SIG SAUER, Inc. “We’ve always known that Max is the best competitive shooter in the world, and a fantastic representative of the SIG SAUER brand. Now the world knows it, too. Everyone here is proud to call Max a partner, contributor and friend.”

Called the Olympics of action pistol, the IPSC World Shoot is held every four years at locations around the globe. This year, the World Shoot was held at the Universal Shooting Academy, in Frostproof, Fla.

Competitors are named to the national team by their respective national bodies. SIG SAUER® was proud to be a Stage Sponsor of the IPSC World Shoot.
