Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- Mark this important date on your calendar.

If you need to reserve a vacation day before the end of the year – DO IT NOW!

This may be one of the most important IGOLD events so far.

IGOLD -Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day
Wed. March 18, 2015
Prairie Capitol Convention Center
Springfield, IL

We know gun free zones are killing zones. It is important we show our new legislators and new governor, Bruce Rauner, that we oppose any further restrictions on our Second Amendment rights and that we support:

  • Less restrictions in where we can legally protect ourselves and our loved ones
  • The carry licensing fee is too high for many to afford
  • The 16 hr. training requirement is excessive, especially when compared to our neighbors in Indiana where no training is required.
  • We need reciprocity with other states in order to protect ourselves when we travel in those states.

If you have already received your carry license, this is NOT the time to sit back and become lax!

Those who have taken the training and gone through the licensing process are crucial to the fight and we need you to stand with us and be heard at IGOLD! Save the date! Be there!

IllinoisCarry Joins Amici Brief

IllinoisCarry is pleased to be a part of an Amicus Brief submitted to the United States Supreme Court, filed by Attorney David Jensen, in the case of Henderson VS United States.

At issue is whether someone with a felony conviction and barred from possessing firearms, should have the right to transfer or sell his/her non-contraband firearms to a third party; or at least an entity could be assigned to sell the firearms for the benefit of the convicted person.

Some aggressive jurisdictions are seizing firearms and denying the owner any opportunity to recoup the loss.

The Second, Fifth, and Seventh Circuits and the Montana Supreme Court all allow lower courts to order such transfers or sales; the Third, Sixth, Eighth and Eleventh Circuits, by contrast and at a loss to the owner of the firearms, bar the government from doing so.

IllinoisCarry is proud to participate in judicial cases and amici that will further strengthen and expand our Second Amendment rights.

If you would like to contribute toward the cost of efforts such as these, please see our contribution link at the bottom of this alert.

Your New Year Assignment!

A new legislative session begins after the inauguration of newly elected legislators on January 14th, 2015 and the 99th IL General Assembly is gaveled into session. We begin this new session with a clean slate. All the old proposed bills will be considered ‘dead‘ and new legislation will be proposed.

Your assignment, should you be willing to accept it, is to contact your State Representative and State Senator and express your concerns about: restrictions in the carry law, further attempts to enact firearm/magazine bans, or attempts to make purchasing, owning, or transporting firearms more difficult for law abiding citizens. Contact your state legislators at the State Capitol and at their home office, whether they are newly elected or returning to office after being reelected.

If your legislator already knows you, make it a point to contact them anyway. They need to know you by name and they need to know where you expect them to stand on these important issues.

About:
The IllinoisCarry forum was started in April 2004. The idea was that Illinois needed a central location to communicate ideas and information regarding 2nd Amendment issues in Illinois. There are many organizations in Illinois working to protect our 2nd Amendment Rights. Working with these groups IllinoisCarry has become the central location for information and Action Alerts. IllinoisCarry will not endorse political candidates. We simply provide information so voters can make informed decisions. Our goal is to join the other 48 states that allow their citizens to carry concealed firearms. We encourage you to register on our forum and join the fight for your 2nd Amendment Rights in Illinois. IL also needs to show reciprocity to other states so law abiding citizens from other states can protect themselves there.
