BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is encouraging West Virginia members and supporters to contact the office of Governor Earl Ray Tomblin about Senate Bill 347 “Constitutional Carry”. Ask him to sign into law Wests Virginia’s version of “Constitutional Carry”.

This measure would allow “constitutional carry” in West Virginia. It passed the House of Delegates 71-29.

Under SB 347, citizens would be able to carry a concealed sidearm without a Concealed Handgun License, while keeping that license in place so West Virginians could carry in other states under reciprocity agreements. It also allows armed citizens to carry in a manner that best suits their needs.

This important legislation is supported by grassroots gun rights activists who have worked tirelessly to get it through the legislature.

To contact Gov. Tomblin’s office, call (304) 558-2000 or send an e-mail via this link: https://www.governor.wv.gov/Pages/SubmitaCommenttotheGovernor.aspx

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. There seems to be much confusion about this bill. The CCP has not been eliminated, if you wish to carry out of state you will need a CCP. In 6 other states citizens can carry without a permit and there have been no problems. I do feel this bill, if passed, will help eliminate or at least ease the “gun phobia” by keeping the weapon out of sight of these people. I have a CCP and will maintain it. WV has had open carry for 20 years, why now is there so much concern for us to carry concealed? I… Read more »

I hope that this bill gets veto.i have had a CCW permit for 16 years the proper training and back ground checks are fine with me. If you want to carry then go though the proper steps Thanks

Earl

I am self taught. I am competent. I am responsible . You do not get to decide for me .. MY rights ! ” Carry ” in many States ,also includes transport of a gun in a car, not just on the body carry. These laws need a rework.

Sounds like you’re just upset because you went through the steps and now they’re being eliminated! Studies that were done show no difference in justified/not justified shootings between states that required or didn’t require training for a CHP or those that were Constitutional Carry. Remember, it’s a right not a privilege.

Hey Mark, I have had a permit from day one. What you are saying just doesn’t make good sense. The 2nd gives us the right to carry without a permit. There shouldn’t have been any permits in the first place, not only in WV but all states.I’m not saying it isn’t a good idea to have proper training, I’m saying we don’t need to be paying our greedy Sheriff’s Dept. money for a right we already have.
