Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- We are now heading into the final hours of the Illinois 2015 spring legislative session.

So far it has been like being up to your waist in mud while trying to run a foot race.

At this point we have not achieved any great victories and neither have we suffered any great defeats.  In fact we have suffered no defeats. There was a time a few years ago when to suffer no defeats was a victory in itself.

Part of the cause of all this is that for the first time in years we have a divided government. The Governor’s mansion is controlled by the Republicans and the legislature is controlled by the Democrats. This session is the first contest between the two, and it is unlikely to be the last.  We are not alone in this quagmire; everyone else is in here with us.

The primary difference between the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) and most of the other constituent groups is that the ISRA is here working to secure freedom and the others are seeking money from the public coffers.

Freedom, from its first glimmer as a concept, has been a struggle.  The cost of freedom has always been painful, expensive and sometimes bloody.   The main weapons of freedom have been organization, determination, and sacrifice.  It was no different in the past, it is no different now, and it will be no different in the future.  I’m reminding you of this because this is the way it’s going to be for at least the next three and a half years.

As always the ISRA will keep you informed.  It isn’t over yet.

Many of you have called and asked how the Grassroots meetings have been going.  They are going well.  Mike Weisman has done a great job. So far we have had meetings in Deerfield, Hazel Crest, and Bloomingdale.  More are planned.  Please take part in a meeting in your area.  It’s important to demonstrate our strength in numbers.

On the national level, questions have been asked about ISIS and how they can be winning if they are “junior varsity.”  The answer is simple.  We have a “junior varsity” President.
