Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- During the Sunday airing of Fox New Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked Karl Rove how America can stop violent attacks like the one the country witnessed in Charleston, South Carolina.

Rove said “acts of violence” will continue, until someone can force America to “repeal the Second Amendment.”

He quickly added his belief that such a repeal is an impossibility, and therefore not a viable idea — yet.

Here is Wallace’s exact question:

Karl, whether you agree with the president on gun control or not, you certainly have to agree with him that we see these cases of mass violence way too often and we see them more often in the United States than in other advanced countries. And I mean, you know, you are in a position to say, what do we do about it whether it’s government, whether it’s community, whether it’s family, how do we stop the violence?

Rove responded by describing the way the country has changed regarding race; the way the the country pulled together in the wake of Charleston to recognize the attack as “evil.” He added:

So, we have come a long way. Now, maybe there’s some magic law that will keep us from having more of these. I mean, basically, the only way to guarantee that we would dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society, and until somebody gets enough oomph to repeal the Second Amendment, that’s not going to happen.

Rove then said, “I don’t think it’s an answer.”

    1. Does anyone know who Stewart the pig is, the spokes pig for an insurance company.
Every time I see Rove, I see Stewart the pig for some reason.

    2. Looking at the quote the author has provided above, it’s quite clear that Rove is not advocating the repeal of the 2nd Amendment. Just break down his points:

      1) “Now, maybe there’s some magic law that will keep us from having more of these” Pure sarcasm – magic laws do not exist – that’s his point.

      2) “I mean, basically, the only way to guarantee that we would dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society” Refer to point one. While this would prevent gun violence, his point is such a law would not work. Not without “magic”.

      3) “and until somebody gets enough oomph to repeal the Second Amendment, that’s not going to happen.” Rove is correct. Any law even attempting to remove guns from the people would require the repeal of the 2nd Amendment – and that will NEVER happen.

      4) Rove then said, “I don’t think it’s an answer.” – So clearly he is not advocating repeal of the 2nd Amendment.

Where he is wrong is buying into the idea that no other industrialized nations have problems with mass shootings or mass killings. This is one of the gun grabbers favorite lines and it is wrong on two points. First of all, they do not consider the much smaller populations in these countries. Second, the cherry pick the countries.

I’m much more upset that Rove gets basic facts so wrong. If he we better informed he would not have made such a statement.

    3. Rove is an idiot. The 2nd amendment isn’t a right granted by government and government doesn’t have the authority to take it away.
