Saturday, July 4 2105, is the 239th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, our most precious, patriotic holiday. Most of us will be going to a parade, a picnic, watching fireworks or even just watching patriotic shows on television.
I want to remind you that others in our country and around the world are watching, waiting, working toward and hoping for the demise of our great nation. We should always be aware of this and we must always be on our guard.
There were calls last week from radicals inside this country to haul down Old Glory. It is time to stand up to them. My flag will be up and yours should be also.
Last week, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed a bill eliminating the 48 hour waiting period for gun purchases. Previously, this law was passed before the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) even existed.
Illinois has a 24 hour waiting period for long guns and a 72 hour waiting period for handguns. These waiting periods should be eliminated. This law was also passed before the NICS existed. Left-wing rags like the Daily Beast criticized Walker, of course. The left-wing media will fight against our Second Amendment rights every chance they get. Be ready for it.
SB 836 reached the IL Governor’s desk for his signature on June 29th. The Governor has 60 calendar days to sign it, or return it with his veto. If the Governor does nothing, the bill will automatically become a law after the 60 day period.
