USA -(Ammoland.com)- Celebrating our independence means celebrating the rights and freedoms that many men and women fought and died to protect.

While many may argue differently, perhaps the most important freedoms are contained in the first two amendments. Freedom to express your opinions and thoughts without persecution. Freedom to believe in God and worship him in the church, or non-church, of your choosing without fear of persecution. Freedom to defend yourself and your country with a firearm without any legal infringements.

This year, this Independence Day, many of us feel those three freedoms are under assault by those who have no understanding of history or the reason our forefathers fought so hard, felt so strongly about preserving and protecting those rights.

The story that is being presented to the American public, indeed the world, regarding firearms is that they are evil. That no one needs them for their own protection when they have the police and military to protect them. That individual citizens are not smart enough to handle a firearm and should therefore rely on the actions and regulations of others, mainly a government entity, to protect them. And Hollywood and the main stream media are the chief presenters of this story. Most novelists have fallen for this trap as well, presenting stories of concealed carry or citizen carry that normally involves an individual who has military or law enforcement training. Or stories of victims who have become emboldened and angry, many times no-nonsense women out for revenge.

Enter a fresh approach, an author writing novels about ordinary people going about their everyday lives while carrying concealed without incident.

Women who are taught to fear guns but find themselves in a situation where a concealed carry holder uses a firearm to protect others. Women who then go forward, choosing to refuse to be a victim, learning how to protect themselves and their loved ones. Families who carry concealed and also have firearms safely stored in the home without fear of children finding them. Families who teach the importance of firearm safety, sitting down regularly with their children to discuss the Eddie Eagle program.

That author is Mary “Dynk” McDonald.

To celebrate the launch of her newest novel, Heartstrings Legacy – Love Returned, the second in a four part series, she is offering it, as well as the first book in the series, Heartstrings Legacy – Choices Made, free on Kindle for this Independence Day weekend. The first book will be free July 3 – 5 2015, the second book will be free for two days only on July 3 – 4 2105.

These are the stories of two mothers who make choices to protect their children, following in the path of the mother King Solomon met in court who would allow someone else to raise her child if it meant protecting him. Her stories are also Christian that carry a PG-13 rating, allowing for a couple of violent situations as well as a few obscenities by non-main characters. However, her stories are not filled with scripture quotations or flowery prayers.

She writes the stories of everyday life grounded in the faith and morals of Christian faith.

Heartstrings Legacy – Love Returned introduces the reader to concealed carry, with frank discussions about the reasons individuals may carry, the necessity of training and firearms safety, as well as the importance of teaching the child the need to respect firearms and the firearms owner. Just as in her debut novel Concealed, Dynk presents practical situations of firearms carried but never used, as well as firearms presented when needed to protect themselves and others. No glamorization or aggressive behavior by firearms owners. Simple, clean, normal actions, yet stories filled with humor and heart pounding emotion to carry the reader from one chapter to the next with ease.

Many writers today who discuss firearms also focus on the brands and the modifications. While not a trained professional, Dynk recognized the importance of telling the story that focused on the owner, not on the tool. In addition, she wanted to tell the right story, the correct story, utilizing proofreaders with years of experience as firearms instructors. Her stories are well edited and proofed, providing the reader with a heartwarming memory they will be loath to stop reading.

Be certain to grab your copy this weekend, letting the fireworks of emotions envelope your heart and mind as you celebrate our independence.
