Indiana –-(Ammoland.com)- Saturday night’s 2nd Amendment Patriots meeting was a lot of fun. We had three state senators present, some TV coverage and some good music provided by Senator Mike Delph and plenty of food provided by everyone else.

Sen. Delph and former Sen. John Waterman gave a riveting explanation of our current status in Indiana and what events have brought us to this point. We also had two pastors in the audience and we appreciate having them with us. It’s always nice to have new people come to our meetings.

For those that still don’t connect the dots, the first and second amendments to the Bill of Rights are now squarely in the crosshairs in this country.

That’s two out of ten and we are grateful for the 100 plus folks who were at our meeting Saturday night who are determined to stand in the way of those seeking to eliminate these two amendments.

On the issue of guns, it’s been announced that Wal-Mart will no longer sell high powered rifles. For those who have been attending our Patriot meetings over the past few years, you may recall my comments about patronizing your local gun shops instead of the big box stores.

When the small guys are gone and the big department stores are all that’s left on the block we will be at their mercy if they decide to make these types of decisions.

Another point is the issue I wrote in an email some weeks ago about my concern as to how all of the veterans who are enrolled in the mental health programs may be impacted by the data collected and how that could be used to prevent them from owning firearms. Just this past week that very notion was brought up in a debate on a national news program.

As it goes with gun rights so it goes with religious freedom. In the matter of the so called separation of church and state, it is all too real; whatever the state decides in religious doctrine, the churches have separated by keeping a deafening silence. What a price to pay for a tax exemption, I hope they enjoy those beautiful buildings.

Too many gun owners and church goers say nothing and do nothing. Thank you again to those who do not fit in that group.

Just a possible correction on the Walmart section. What Walmart has actually announced, is not that they will no longer sell “high powered rifles,” but rather that they will no longer carry AR platform and “similar” rifles or shotguns. They indicated that they would continue to sell “traditional” hunting type rifles and shotguns, which I took to mean lever action and bolt-guns, break action and pump shotguns, etc. but not “Tactical” style long guns. They stated that this was a decision based on marketing information, ie, because that style is not selling well at Walmarts, and this may well be… Read more »
