USA – -(Ammoland.com)- When it comes to concealed carry, one of our favorite gun holster types is the hybrid.

This is an inside the waistband (IWB) holster made up of two components: typically a Kydex shell shaped to the firearm that is riveted, glued or screwed to either a leather or neoprene backing board.

The board distributes the weight of the handgun over a greater surface area to aid in concealment and is meant to be more comfortable than having a holster made completely of kydex. We recently received a sample from Kinetic Concealment.

This particular holster is sized for the Glock 19 or 23 and will accommodate the Glock 30S.

It has nine (9) belt clip cant positions and a high-ride/low-ride Kydex shell cant position. The two parts are held together via Chicago Style flat head screws for ease of adjustment and the ability to shift from a hybrid to a more conventional outside the waistband (OWB) holster.

Kinetic Concealment Holster The Good

We received the combo kit which allows the shooter to convert to an OWB holster. This is a neat feature, especially for the shooter who does not want to store a box of holsters.

Using neoprene stitched over the leather on the hybrid is a recent innovation. Kinetic Concealment claims to have been the first company to pioneer this and it shows in the quality.

The key to any holster is comfort. Similar models from DeSantis Holsters and Aliengear Holsters while comfortable are not quite as comfortable as Kinetic’s.

I give the other companies 4.5 stars out of 5 on holster comfort, with Kinetic at a solid 5 out of 5 on the gun holster comfort scale.

Wearing the Kinetic for a few weeks was extremely comfortable; we experienced no “end of the day sag“, and will look into models that fit other pistols apart from the Glock 19.

Kinetic Concealment Holster The Bad

After wearing the holster daily for two weeks, we found a problem relating to the spring steel clips; after sitting in a car or in a chair for any amount of time, they shift. We replaced them with solid plastic clips that need to be inserted through the belt and this problem went away.

The holster never worked its way loose completely, but the rear would rise up to almost off the belt after getting out of the truck a few times.

Kinetic Concealment Holster The Reality

This is a well made and safe holster for CCW, but we feel that the metal clips need to be replaced to ensure there is no shifting. There was no noticeable sag with the holster after carrying a handgun in it all day, but the shifting of the clips can be a problem in some locales as it will cause the pistol to be visible.

MSRP for the Hybrid Holster is $76.95 with the Combo Kit at $97.95. The budget conscious might want to forgo the combo kit as we do not foresee much use of the OWB style in our future. It is only an extra $20 or so, but apparently that can make or break some shooters.

I just bought my kinetic hybrid holster and straight
out of the package it has been one of the most comfortable
I’ve worn. The kydex fits my m&p shield perfect, lowered
the clips and ride height is perfect now.

I have, An Alien, a Crossbreed, a few random and a Kinetic…. There is NO comparison in comfort and quality. If your not serious about carrying anything will work. Kinetic has nailed it for me!

I have an alien gear for my glock 30, I love the way it rides and it sits there all day. I also have the kinetic concealment one, although alien gear was cheaper, the kinetic was of great quality. The clips are not a a factor in this holsters performance and should be treated as a preference. I bought some injection molded ones and problem wasn’t an issue for me. I would say to you even though the price is high, so is the quality, and if you want quality, you got to pay for that.

Looks pretty much the same as what Aliengear has but Aliengear doesn’t cost nearly as much.

I agree Alex.. You are right, Aliengear is half the price and are excellent quality IWB holsters I have one for my Glock 19 and gonna get another one for my Glock 42/43…
I really like the way they are made and are super comfortable with the neoprene backing and all, I can’t imagine these holsters being of better quality therefore cannot justify the much higher price.

Alien Gear is vynil not Leather. Big difference.

Looks good. Main concern beyond printing is all day wear fatigue. I carry the Model 22 and with a 15+1 carry situation, it is a factor to be reckoned with … Do you recommend those plastic clips you wrote about? If yes, can I assume Crossbreed offers them for sale?

Thank you Mike for a great review of our product. On the belt clips, we always recommend the owner place a drop of Blue LockTite product on the back of the Chicago Style screw set once they have their desired cant set. This is keep the screws from loosening and will reduce the risk of have any slippage whatsoever. We elect to use screw sets in replace of rivets due to the fact that leather, over time, will stretch, and the kydex will need to be tightened back down. We also offer a low and high ride position on the… Read more »
