Paso Robles, Calif. – (Ammoland.com) – Weatherby Inc., legendary firearms manufacturer, is honored to introduce the Vanguard Leupold Package, one of the latest iterations of the Vanguard series that debuted in the late 1970s.

Since that time, Vanguard rifles have redefined the level of performance that’s attainable from a production hunting rifle —especially budget-friendly models. Available in a wide array of calibers, the ever-popular Vanguard Synthetic is being paired with the versatile Leupold VX-2 3-9X 40 mm riflescope, thereby creating in a rugged, reliable duo capable of pursuing all game the world over.

Adhering to the Weatherby axiom, “Nothing is … more accurate,” accompanying the Vanguard Leupold Package is an accuracy guarantee; when using premium ammunition, it will produce a three-shot group measuring 0.99-inch or less at 100 yds. from a cold barrel. Contributing to said accuracy is a cold-hammer-forged, 24-inch, No. 2-contour ending in a radius crown. The above mentioned Leupold VX-2 scope is mounted in Talley designed, lightweight Vanguard mounts and boresighted by a Weatherby gunsmith. This not only assures the job is done correctly, but also saves you time and money. Sight-skewing and game-alarming glare is minimized through the use of a bead-blasted, matte-blue finish.

Designed as a “working” arm, the Vanguard eschews frills for functionality; the rugged, reliable Vanguard action is attached to a hardwearing, gray “Griptonite” synthetic stock with black panels in the pistol grip and fore-end. The grip also has a right-side palm swell to enhance comfort and control. Consistent with other Vangaurd and Mark V rifles, the stock has the Weatherby signature Monte Carlo-style raised comb to immediately align the shooter’s eye with the optic. A pliable, rubber recoil pad helps soften recoil to the shoulder from high-energy rounds, such as .300 Wby. Mag., while the swivel studs enable the attachment of a sling for hands-free trekking.

As with other rifles in the series, the Vanguard Leupold Package rifle is equipped with a match-quality, hand-honed, two-stage trigger that’s user adjustable for pull weight. It also has the familiar three-position safety and fluted bolt with dual-opposed locking lugs of its siblings.

Feeding the Vanguard is an internal, staggered-column magazine that, depending on the caliber, holds either three or five rounds. Because of the positioning of the magazine-release button, it’s virtually assured that the hinged floor plate won’t be inadvertently opened during an inopportune time, too, so the rounds will be at the ready for when you need them, but it also enables quick unloading when encountering obstacles or at the end of the hunt.

The Vanguard Leupold Package is scheduled to hit dealer’s shelves in November of 2015 with an MSRP of $1049. Visit your nearest authorized Weatherby dealer and order yours today.

For many it would be a nice simple marriage. With the right ammo I know the Vanguards will shoot well as I reloaded some for a friends 300 Wby Vanguard and he’s getting about 1/2 half MOA using accubonds with 7828 powder. Many hunters would be happy with the 3×9 scope already professionally mounted and bore sighted. However many would prefer a scope that would better fit the long range capability of the Weatherby Magnums but I assume they will still sell the non-scoped models as well. Being a reloader however, I still prefer a longer barrel in super-magnum Weatherby… Read more »
