It is Time for Gun Owners to Get Political

Louisiana- (Ammoland.com)  We have a million new gun owners each month.  Welcome, but there is more to being a gun owner than buying ammunition.  I hope you noticed that Democrat politicians recently proposed ridiculous regulations on guns and gun owners.  Gun sales soared, but I think that is the wrong response.  Gun owners need to get political to protect their rights.

If a politician said they were going to come and confiscate your water would you go buy jugs of water?   If a politician said money was evil and they were going to come and take your money, would you go take your cash out of the bank?  No, you wouldn’t.

You would run the politician out of office so fast and so hard that they would have to leave the state.

You can tell that this is an election year.  This is the season for politicians to attack honest gun owners because politicians need campaign cash.  The special interests who want to disarm honest citizens are flush with dark money.  Democrat politicians chased after these campaign donations like kids running to a cookie jar.

The Democrat politicians kept their part of the bargain.  I’ve seen proposals to require gun owners to register as if they were sex offenders.  There are proposals to require insurance before you can own a gun.  There are proposals to outlaw all guns that load a bullet into the chamber after the gun fires.

Gun sales soared.. and gun owners are wrong.  You bought a gun because gun ownership was threatened. Great. Now defend that right.  You’ll clean up a dirty gun, but some gun owners won’t get their hands dirty with politics.

I don’t like political activism either, but we have to do it.

I’m a gun owner.  I understand the impulse to buy a gun once democrat politicians said they will infringe on that right. I get it, but buying a gun isn’t enough to defend your rights to keep and bear arms. We can’t stop political oppression by indulging ourselves at the sporting goods store. We need to fight politicians with political activism.  I have, and now I’m begging you to join me.  I’m pleading with you.

Stop indulging yourself at the gun stop.  Register to vote instead.  Yes, the first step is that easy.

Now keep going.  Spend some of your money on political ammunition rather than lead and brass.  Join the groups who defend your right of self-defense.  Join the NRA and its affiliated gun group in your state.  Join the Second Amendment Association, Gun Owners of America, and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership.  Each group brings something different to the table.  I belong to every one of them.

Now I’m going to get personal. Please start listening to your politicians.  Let them know when they are right, and when they are wrong.  You can do it from your phone.  Find a pro-gun politician you can support.  Please donate to him and get on his mailing list.

Wake up, gun owners.  Fight politicians with political activism.  Once you’re energized, then donate to the Crime Prevention Research Center too. I hope you’ve done all that before you buy your next gun.

Guns have two enemies; rust and politicians.  Let’s fight both.

Now from what I heard at Otis’s funeral.

Don’t include Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day if you’re counting pro-gun organizations. According to Otis McDonald’s book, “An Act of Bravery” Valinda Rowe & Richard Pearson of ISRA helped recruit Otis McDonald for the Supreme Court lawsuit against the City of Chicago. ISRA is mostly old white guys so they needed a black plaintiff to be trendy. When the U.S. Federal Appeals Court in Chicago struck down IL’s concealed weapons law in Dec. 2012, Pearson & Rowe let NRA contract lobbyist Todd Vandermyde sell out to the police unions in Rep. Brandon Phelps HB183 NRA backed carry bill. The anti-gun… Read more »
