Fairfax, VA -(AmmoLand.com)- On Wednesday, March 16, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee is scheduled to hear Senate Bill 1040, the “Terrorist Watchlist” bill.

However, your NRA-ILA has learned the committee has decided to only hear limited testimony on the legislation as indicated by the posted rules.  It is imperative that you contact Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee Chair, Senator Bobby Zirkin, and strongly urge him to schedule Senate Bill 1040 for a full hearing with no limits on testimony.

Senate Bill 1040 seeks to remove the right to due process of those on the “terror watchlist.”  However, those on the secretive government watchlist have no idea if, when or how they were added and may have not been charged or convicted of any crime.  In every other case in which a person is deprived of their firearm rights, they were afforded a judicial proceeding.  Due process of the law must be followed before depriving anyone of their Constitutional rights.

Again, it is important that you contact Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee Chair, Senator Bobby Zirkin, and strongly urge him to schedule Senate Bill 1040 for a full hearing with no limits on testimony.  Also, please contact members of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and urge them to oppose House Bill 100 when it comes up for a vote.  Committee members can be contact by clicking here or the Take Action button above.
