Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- Beware of “Common Sense!

Much gas being expended this election year, and our Second Amendment is a first-tier issue this time!

When aspiring Marxists describe their plans to restrict our rights, always “… for our own good,” they deceitfully label it all “common sense,” assuring us all that destruction of personal liberty and freedom is “just what we need.

“Universal background checks” are a typical freedom-destroying measure that comes under their definition of “common sense.” Under their version of this “common sense” restriction, you can’t even hand a gun to a family member to shoot at a gun range without becoming a felon! You similarly become a felon when you store your guns at a relative’s home while yours is being remodeled.

The mentally ill should not have guns. Who can object to that? All sounds so “common sense,” until you discover that Democrats have declared political opponents, including all veterans, “mentally ill.

Those named in “protection orders” should not have guns. Who can object to that? More “common sense,” until, as is currently the case in CA, anyone who claims that you “make them nervous,” even people you don’t know and have never even met, can cause your guns to be confiscated by police, all without you ever being arrested, nor charged with any crime. Despite lies to the contrary, once your guns are thus confiscated, you’ll never see them again!

Mandatory “smart guns!” Who can object to that? Problem is: the technology to make a reliable one doesn’t exist, and probably never will! Sleazy politicians who push this fantasy covet the ability to precipitously “turn off” your guns any time they want. It is a safe bet that their own bodyguards will never be equipped with any species of “smart gun!”

Too many guns? Leftists/liberals are already talking about limiting the number of gun you can own. Curious, they never want such restrictions imposed on themselves!

Criminals shouldn’t have guns!” All high-sounding, but that is already illegal. Has been for my entire lifetime!

When you hear the foregoing from the mouths of aspiring liberals/leftists, notice they never get specific. Liberals never do!

They want control. Nothing else!

“Common Sense gun laws” are, to borrow a phrase from Obama, “Okie Doke”

2War Abn Vet

Every time some leftist/Socialist starts spouting the buzz words “reasonable”, “modest”, “safer”, “more responsible”, or “common sense” gun control, you can be certain that his ultimate goal is complete gun confiscation from honest citizens.
They’re aware that they can’t accomplish that goal all at once, but like creeping totalitarianism, it can be done in small increments.

Have you noticed that the anti-gun crowd are usually preaching that having a gun for “sport” purposes like target shooting and sometimes hunting, is acceptable, but having one for self-defense is not? In what strange parallel universe is being able to engage in a sport more important than being able to save your life (or someone else’s)? I am amazed at how often I see this particularly moronic (is that an “M” word I should be careful of?) idea so readily accepted without question by the public.

Saddletramp

Since every person has a different definition, in varying degrees, of ” common sense ” I pose this question. What is ” common sense ” ??

Wild Bill

Is there any sense that is common to all?

Janek

People with no “Common Sense” preaching “Common Sense” gun laws? WTF?

JJ

Be careful about using the “M” word, Mr. Farman.

Wild Bill

JJ, who the heck is Mr Farman? What is the M word? What should Mr. Farman be careful of, and why? The author is a man named Farnam. The M word could be much (gas), Marxist, measure (as in freedom destroying measure), or mental (as in mental illness). Finally, if you really see a need for being careful, I really wish that you would share it or I will just presume that you are trying to work a hardship on free speech. Add garden variety insult about reading comprehension here.

Well said Tom! And welcome. Looking forward to more of your commentary. What are some of your best “shut them up lines” (so that I might use them)?

I guess don’t accept their terms and logic. When they say something like, “ban military-grade weapons”, ask what that means and what the difference is from what they imply as ‘civilian grade’. There’s no such thing. It’s just B.S. so call it out. They make up crap sound it sounds like they know what they are talking about – to other useful idiots, that is; not us. Here’s one of my favorite ways to call their B.S. and mock them: reply to “semi-auto rifles like AR’s should be banned – it’s common sense” with: so you say it is common… Read more »

Whenever some numbskull raves on about banning the Bushmaster and clones, I simply ask them if they realise that “high powered weapon” is banned from use for the taking of deer, elk, sheep, etc by hunters. WHY they might ask. Because it is too wimply a cartridge to get the job done with any reliability. REALLY? Certainly, Do you know why that gun was designed, and its first intended use? It was for the military, right? Yes, it was… but for what situations? Uhmmmm…. I dunno….. let me tell you. For close quarters urban street fighting, and for short range… Read more »

Thank you for the pointers.

Since the early 1980’s I’ve heard statist ‘gun control’ advocates consistently lie. Put another way, I’ve never heard them tell the truth! It’s easy to conclude that their real goal is a disarmed population of subjects. Of course, they cannot publicly say that. It’d be political suicide. So they resort to the ‘noble lie.’ Statist-utopian elitists employ the ‘noble lie’ and justify this deception as really for our own good, which we are too stupid to know. If they told us what they were really doing to us and we, their rightful serfs, would resist their control and that is… Read more »

Well stated Tom,

The anti Second Amendment proponents can’t say publicly that they really want to confiscate guns. Remember, who was caught on tape saying “we needed a bill that was going to confiscate, confiscate, confiscate.” Don’t let anti liberty people fool us with there “common sense” talk. When their laws fail, they cry for one more law.

Additionally, “debating liars and dupes is a fool’s errand.” Keep this in mind next time one see a anti gun post.
