Sacramento, CA -(AmmoLand.com)- On Thursday, June 30, 2016, craven Democrats in each house of the California Legislature circumvented procedure and brutalized constitutional rights by passing a massive slate of hastily-prepared gun control bills.

Eleven anti-gun bills –and their vast constitutional and financial collateral damage were passed on the very last day the legislature met before taking a taxpayer-subsidized summer vacation.

“The California Legislature showed their true faces today,” said Craig DeLuz, the director of public and legislative affairs for Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC). “They abused the legislative process to enact their depraved anti-civil rights agenda that affects on every aspect of the lives of millions of law-abiding Californians.”

If they become law, the package of legislation would create new criminal liabilities affecting millions of law-abiding residents and visitors, cost the state tens of millions of dollars in new fees and fines, and erode the fundamental rights of all Californians.

Eleven bills now are headed to the desk of Governor Jerry Brown, who will have himself twelve days to decide whether he will veto any of the bills.

“Feckless politicians like Senate Pro Tem Kevin de Leon and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon have proven today that they have no regard for the legislative process by fast-tracking their political agenda by passing by rules and procedure that are in place to check the very parliamentary deception that was on display today,” said DeLuz. “It is now on the people of California to use the First Amendment to stand up for the Second. It is critical for law-abiding citizens to contact the Governor and urge him to use pragmatism and common sense to thwart this assault on their and their neighbor’s civil rights.”

The measures passed to in the Governor include:

  • AB 857 (Cooper): Retroactively requires serial numbers to be placed on firearms dating back at least 50 years.
  • AB 1135 (Levine): Bans common and constitutionally protected firearms that have magazine locking devices.
  • AB 1511 (Santiago): Ccriminalizes loaning of firearms between personally known, law-abiding adults, including sportsmen, family member and competitors.
  • AB 1673 (Gipson): Redefines “firearms” to include objects that are not firearms.
  • AB 1674 (Santiago): Bans buying more than one firearm within a 30-day period.
  • AB 1695 (Bonta): Makes a non-violent misdemeanor a prohibiting offense.
  • AB 2607 (Ting): Dramatically expands secret “Gun Violence Restraining Orders”.
  • SB 880 (Hall): Bans common and constitutionally protected firearms that have magazine locking devices.
  • SB 894 (Jackson): Re-victimizes victims by criminalizing the failure to report lost and stolen firearms.
  • SB 1235 (de Leon): Restrictions on ammunition purchases, creates a DOJ database of ammunition owners.
  • SB 1446 (Hancock): Confiscation of lawfully acquired, standard capacity ammunition feeding devices

Maybe California should be willing to take all the unvetted refugees Obama’s Democrats have brought and are bringing into the country. After all they would probably love living in a state that is one big “Gun Free Zone”.
