VCDL-Driven Turnout Slows Chesapeake’s Rush to Change Shooting Ordinances

Covington, VA -(Ammoland.com)- Last Wednesday night HUNDREDS of gun owners showed up at City Council chambers to oppose possible changes restricting where people can shoot in Chesapeake.

The vast majority of attendees were sporting the VCDL Guns Save Lives sticker.

The Chief of Police was expecting around 10 people to attend the meeting, which was not publicized.  Then VCDL found out about the meeting and, well…  😉

The crowd was broken into three focus groups:  farmers, target shooters, and hunters.  A controlled CHAOS ensued.

The result is that in the next 60 days the input from the focus groups is going to be compiled and distributed to those at the meeting and another meeting scheduled to continue to look into possible changes to the shooting ordinance.

While the Chief of Police has been backpedalling on this, we have reason to believe changes to the discharge ordinance were actually on a fast track and we short circuited the plan.  Whether that is true or not, we’re glad the Chief is taking a long, slow look at the issue.

WE MUST KEEP INVOLVED IN THIS, ESPECIALLY WITH SUCH A DELAY UNTIL THE NEXT ACTION.

Getting complacent could be disastrous for Chesapeake gun owners. I will advise as soon as I hear anything further on this issue.

Thanks to Board member John Fenter for representing VCDL at the hearing and to all of you who attended.  Be prepared to do it again in a month or two.  We will repeat as needed.  😉

Here’s some articles and videos on the meeting:

Maybe the state should change its motto to pro semper tyrannis. But I noticed when it comes to these backstabbing scenarios, it’s always the shill of the Mayor (Police Chief) that does it, and not the Sheriff’s who are elected by the people. Something to consider when it comes down to whom to trust.

Keep on the lookout for another secret meeting to address the issue between now and the “scheduled” meeting… Just in case.

I reccomend every individual find and support their state’s Citizen’s defense league in equal amounts to the NRA(-ILA). If you’re happy with your state’s laws, be wary, but financially suppot VDLs in unfriendlt states – they need help too!
