Why the Lefts Message on Gun Control and the NRA Falls Flat

Fairfax, VA -(AmmoLand.com)- Why the anti-gun message keeps falling flat and why their message cannot make you hate the NRA.

Get up in the morning, turn on your PC and open Bing News. Then type in NRA. On a typical day, you’ll learn the NRA wants to give guns to babies, wants every home to have an AK47, and to arm every criminal with a gun so that you’ll buy a gun yourself. Apparently, they also worship Satan and kill kittens. The anti-gun left’s logic is bizarre; they say the NRA wants more gun sales and are a tool of the gun industry but also that the NRA doesn’t want Hillary to be President and wants Obama impeached.

According to the left, the NRA wants to fire the greatest gun salesman in US history and his handpicked successor while also wanting increased gun sales.

This chart stopped in 2012; you have four more years and massive increases in gun sales that don’t show on this table. These are just background checks on new guns, the sales of used guns and ghost guns is also on the rise. The fact is the left’s logic just makes them look silly. People see through this pretty easily.

NRA members’ have the lowest crime rate and are among the most honest individuals on the planet. While NRA membership is approaching 6 million members, they reach most every gun owner in the country and are respected. Sure there are those who think the NRA does not go far enough, but no one denies their total dedication to the defense of our Constitution. There are 100,000+ NRA instructors teaching safety, and the NRA raises and donates $70 million a year for charity. The NRA is not what the Anti-gun lefts says they are.

If selling baby parts did not turn people against planned parenthood the half-baked attacks on the NRA will not work either. Poor women should not be forced to have unwanted children, and people have a right to own a gun. Two truths in modern America.

There are in fact 120,000,000 gun owners in America. They are all over 18 and will turn out to vote in higher than typical numbers.

So how do I know this? Did I count them? According to the anti-gun left the number of gun owners dropped, and there are in fact only 12 people left buying all those guns in America! Sure that is an exaggeration, but it captures the spirit of the left’s arguments. The facts are much different.

You see a handful of liberal states states count the number of gun licenses they have issued. Since 2007 the number of licenses, permits or safety cards or whatever method you want to choose has been INCREASING by 4-5% annually. Apply this on a national level and you get a substantially compounded increase in gun ownership over the past eight years. The Anti-gun left is pitching gun control to an audience where a LOT more people own guns than they think, and a lot more in Blue states than they think.

Annual Gun Buyer Background Checks
Annual Gun Buyer Background Checks

The NRA is 40% minority and 40% women. The left see’s the NRA as it was in the 1980’s. White, male, and needing to lose 30 lbs. As America changed so has the NRA. Owning a gun is a rite of passage to becoming an American. The NRA board has more women and is changing as the face of America changes. Yes, it takes time to change, but we see it happening, and the Anti-gun left has ignored it.

There are both more gun owners and a wider diversity of gun owners than at any time in history. The call to ban guns falls flat when you say it to people who own guns.

Gun owners don’t trust the anti-gun left. The internet is a wonderful thing. We can replay the video of Chuck Schumer saying that the NRA is right and that he does plan in ban guns. We can hear Diane Feinstein saying that she would have had guns confiscated if she only had the votes. We can listen to Hillary Clinton say she plans to have Heller and McDonald overturned and eliminate your right ever to buy a gun or even keep the one you have. So when you see an anti-gun politician say all she wants is common sense gun control we remember those past statements, and we share them with new gun owners who may not have seen the videos. Messages such as Hillary Clinton calling for a 25% tax on all guns.

Do you thing 120,000,000 gun owners trust the anti-gun left? Especially given their past statements? Gun owners see the anti-gun left as liars, with a gun banning agenda that they never admit in public. Thank goodness for cell phone recording! While not all 120,000,000 gun owners belong to the NRA every gun owner listens to them, as we cling to our guns and religion.

Over the past 30 years’ gun violence has dropped by 50%, and 83% of all gun violence is gang and drug related. The simple fact is most of America does not have a gun violence issue. In fact, remove these gang and drug-related killings from the equation and America has a lower murder rate than Western Europe. For most of America gun violence is just not an issue; for 120,000,000 gun owners preserving their rights are an issue. The Anti-gun lefts’ failure to distinguish between terrorism and domestic violence is also apparent to gun owners. No one believes that Terrorism would be stopped by gun control legislation. Especially given that one of the guns used in the Paris Attack came from Obama’s failed Fast and Furious program in Arizona.

Summarizing, you don’t know what gun owners in America look like or how many of us there are. You sit in your elitist liberal towers and project your view of America onto the rest of us. Your views are 30 years out of date. When you get it this wrong, I have to wonder what else you only think you know.

If you’re a gun owner join the NRA, support politicians that recognize your right to own a gun and vote in the November election.

Mr Smith I hope you aren’t a troll. With all due respect you are very poorly informed on the subject. 1) Guns are not banned from NRA HQ. That is a lie created by Shannon Watts of Bloombergs Astro-turf organization Everytown. 2) As for gun grab-Senator Diane Feinstein, after passage of the Clinton Assault Wespon Ban on TV said “If I could have gotten the votes-Mr and Mrs America turn them all in”… sounds like a ban to me. Hillarys campaign as demonstrated by leaked emails – planned on pushing a gun control policy like Australia-a gun ban. In California… Read more »

Guns are my hobby. But have seen the NRA become far too extreme. Noone I’ve ever spoken with has said they were “coming to ‘GRAB’ our guns.” More NRA exaggeration. BTW, look at the rules of entering the NRA’s headquarters in Virginia. NO GUNS ALLOWED, except for guards. Folks, have some sense here. E.B.Smith, Birmingham, Alabama…one of the most dangerous cities in the USA. WHY? The free-flow of…GUNS! Been at this for over 60 years and I know my subject. NOONE can take away ours unless we’re lawbreakers. Please, cut the adrenalin and know your subject. “The only way to… Read more »

Sir You sound like a troll using the standard Everytown script, but perhaps you are merely poorly informed.Hoping that you are merely poorly informed, I’ll provide a few comments: 1)The comment about NRA HQ is an untrue myth , made up by Everytown Group and it is a flat out lie-it pops up everywhere the NRA is discussed but there is no truth to it. 2) As for “grab our guns”? Senator Diane Feinstein in 1995 when the so called “Assault WeaponsBan” was passed appeared on national TV and said “If I had the votes to ban them -I would-Mr… Read more »

Have owned a few guns most of my life. Don’t want to give them up but don’t feel threatened by reasonable efforts to control ownership and use. We do that with automobiles. There is potential to do a lot of damage quickly with some of the guns being sold today. We are assuming everyone is responsible in their use I guess and that the more we have the safer we will be is part of the message as well. I have this picture in my mind when I go to the grocery store today. There is someone with an AR15… Read more »

I am also a long-time life member and an instructor. Please, if you would be so kind, provide to me your source(s) for the following: – there are 120,000,000 gun owners, -NRA members have the lowest crime rate and are among the most honest individuals on the planet, – NRA is 40% minority and 40% women, and -83% of all gun violence is gang related. I sincerely hope that all of the above is accurate and was drawn from an authoritative source. I like what you said, but when you do not cite the source, it has the sound of… Read more »

The gang and drug issues come from the FBI UCR. Gun owner count was covered in another article, demographics from the FNRA

Poor women should not be forced to have unwanted children?

What the actual hell? It’s called personal responsibility. Don’t want kids? Don’t have unprotected sex. It’s pretty simple. Killing babies because they’re unwanted is ridiculous.

Robert

Rape, mechanical or chemical failure of protection, poked pin holes in condoms (yes men do this too), or how about a plain old accident?

But the plain and simple fact remains…… your rights to belief stop at her rights to choose. Like it or not, support it or not, it is her right and therefore should remain inviolate.

Don McDougall should have left the abortion issue the hell out of this.

Robert: It’s not “our” belief or her right to “choose”, She does not have the right to murder her child for any reason…

ABORTION……. The HUMAN Sacrifice to the god of Convenience

I found the article a bit disheartening. 120,000,000 gun owners and less than 5% are NRA members.

The NRA asks about gender when you sign up, so that’s probably where that stat comes from.

Jim Macklin

https://joinnra.nra.org/join/join.aspx
I looked at the application for and I don’t see sex or gender anywhere on the form.
I do recall that fifty years ago you had to have a sponsor to join the NRA, either another member or a police or military officer or a judge. You also had to swear an oath to defend and protect the Constitution.
But those requirements were found to be discriminatory and were dropped.

Tex
You insist it’s not applicable here?
You have actual data to the contrary? Please share?
If it’s based on your personal observation , you don’t have a reliable sample unless your “n” value approaches 1200.
On the other hand, you may be merely spouting off.
Which is it?

I’m not disputing anything here but I am asking where the NRA gets its demographic percentages from. I’m a member and an instructor and I can’t ever remember being asked gender or ethnicity in all the decades I’ve been a member so how, exactly, did they come up with this?

DBM

Im still trying to figure out why statistics don’t matter to Tex.

Natalie

The NRA asks what your title is; ie Mr., Miss, Mrs… That kind of tells what your gender is. Also, they DO ask for your gender. See the link below. https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp?campaignid=XM012641 Obviously you are disputing something because you are disagreeing with the male/female and minority/white statistics. Disagreement is a form of disputing. Maybe you should actually read or research things before you spout off at the mouth. Everything is tracked for statistical purposes and marketing purposes. Women alone are the fastest growing group in the firearms industry, second would be minorities specifically Hispanics and Asian. Next time don’t look like… Read more »

@Greg Tag and DBM. I think that Tex means that “here” [ in the article], the point is that figures don’t lie, but liars figure, as the old saw goes. Thus the statistics don’t matter. They are merely illustrative. Even the author, says that he is exaggerating to capture the argument.

TEX

@DBM,I understand that concept, yes. But it’s not applicable here.

DBM

Tex, lets take a group of 10 people. Say 4 of them are women. And lets say two of them are hispanic and two are black. Lets make them a pair of couples. So 10 people, 40% of them are minority 40% women, 60% male 60% white. Got it?

TEX

40% minority and 40% women ? Bullsh*t ! This article was about how the gungrabbers lie about everything and McDougall does that ? So that means the NRA is 20% white ? Bullsh*t again !

Dr Dave

DUH I guess you lack any idea of statistics.
What he said was that the NRA is 60% male and 40% female and that it is also 40% minority and 60% white Caucasian. Before flaming off the keys atleast remember the old saying that goes:
Better to be silent and allow others to think you are a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Let’s press the issue of Hillary speaking in schools double standard with her security carrying. OOPS, I forgot, she’s special, forked tongue and all,.
