Nation’s fastest-growing outdoor retailer developing a new store to better serve Eastern Iowa region
St. Paul, MN -(AmmoLand.com)- For years Gander Mountain has been the place where outdoor enthusiasts in Eastern Iowa go to get the best expertise, service and selection for their outdoor activities.
In the spring of 2017, the community will get a bigger and better retail experience from Gander Mountain as it expands its presence in Cedar Rapids with a new, significantly larger store.

The new 52,000-square-foot Gander Mountain store will be the anchor of the new Northtowne Market shopping center – a 35-acre, mixed-use commercial development bounded by Blairs Ferry to the north, Council Street to the west and Rockwell Drive to the east. The community’s current Gander Mountain store, which is located in southwest Cedar Rapids, opened in 2000 and has 31,080 square feet of retail space.

Cedar Rapids developer Hunter Companies is overseeing redevelopment of the property it acquired in late 2014 and revitalizing it after decades of industrial use. Construction is already underway on several buildings in addition to the Gander Mountain building.

Gander Mountain is America’s Firearms Supercenter and the new store will feature one of the largest selections of new and used firearms in Iowa, featuring brands like Smith & Wesson, SigSauer, Kimber, Ruger, Taurus, Springfield, Beretta, Browning, Remington, FN USA, Glock, Benelli, Bersa and more. Customers will enjoy Gander Mountain’s unmatched selection of new and used firearms from around the country, both in-store and online. The store will also feature the best selection of gear and accessories for hunting, shooting sports, fishing, and camping. Additionally, Gander Mountain ships more firearms to FFLs than any other retailer.
Gander Mountain also features the outdoor retail industry’s first system-wide free Online Order Pick Up system, enabling customers to purchase products online and pick them up in-store the same day.
Since 2012, Gander Mountain has opened more than 55 new stores throughout the country, and remodeled most of the company’s existing stores. More new store announcements are expected soon.
