Canada -(AmmoLand.com)- The London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers group has decided to cover up billboards they had commissioned in the area that depicted firearms as being the cause of crime.

The Crime Stoppers group says the original intent of the billboard was to encourage people to report illegal guns. However, the message was not clear and led to many Canadians believing the group was targeting law-abiding firearms owners.

In a letter to Canada’s National Firearms Association, who voiced their concern with the billboards, the Crime Stoppers group wrote that the reaction they received from the public “…mounted to a point that we believed the original intent was lost, the negative impact far reaching and the decision to remove the billboards was made.”

The Crime Stoppers group has said the billboards will be covered up as soon as possible.

“We are very appreciated of the open and respectful dialogue Crime Stoppers had with us and that they agreed to cover the up billboard after receiving so many complaints from law-abiding firearms owners and users,” says Sheldon Clare, president of the NFA.

“Crime Stoppers does tremendous work in our communities, and we are appreciative of all the work they do,” adds Mr. Clare.

“Unfortunately here their point was lost and offended many people, but they reacted quickly when we pointed out the problem and we are very pleased with their decision to cover up the offensive billboards.”

From what I read, the Canadian government and elites don’t believe that a Canadian CAN be a law-abiding gun owner. If there are any, it means that they didn’t craft their oppressive laws tightly enough.
