Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- November 8 2016 was a historic night for gun rights supporters.

When faced with the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency, a U.S. Senate led by Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), and a U.S. Supreme Court that would threaten the recognition of the individual right to keep and bear arms, NRA members delivered a resounding rejection of the anti-gun agenda.

NRA supporters know that the road to victory began long before Election Day.

Up against the most significant threat to our rights ever confronted, NRA led an unprecedented effort to support our pro-gun allies and defeat the enemies of freedom.

Vital to this victory was the work of NRA’s dedicated network of hundreds of Election Volunteer Coordinators, who worked with thousands of volunteers on the ground on voter outreach efforts. In 2016, these NRA supporters knocked on 170,000 doors and made 1.35 million phone calls.

In addition to our supporters on the ground, NRA spent more than $20 million on television ads in support of Donald Trump’s bid for the White House and to oppose Hillary Clinton, and millions more on ensuring a pro-gun congress. Further, NRA targeted voters with 38,000,000 mailings and 15,000,000 pre-recorded phone calls.

The result of NRA’s efforts is indisputable. On election night, Meet the Press host Chuck Todd commented on just how important NRA’s efforts were to Trump’s win during NBC’s election coverage. Todd noted, “Trump got a big assist here… Donald Trump didn’t get a lot of help from major Republican institutions, but he did from the NRA and they came through big. This is a big night for the NRA.”

But there’s no mystery here.  This victory was due to the tireless efforts of NRA members, volunteers, and supporters.  The stakes couldn’t have been higher, and America’s gun community rose to the occasion.

November 8, 2016 will go down in history as an unqualified victory in the fight to preserve our Second Amendment freedoms.

To all NRA members who volunteered, donated, spread our message, and voted, thank you for making this victory possible.

KUDOS to the NRA. i only hope that the Nra does not only stand for gun rights but for justice as well. it will cement my faith in this great organization if they do that. a lot of my friends has not renewed their membership because they said that the Nra only solicit donations once you become a member and only lobby for gun rights on behalf of big donors like huge gun manufacturers. i would like to see the Nra to be one of the leading proponent of justice and not just gun lobbying. what the FBI did and… Read more »

No, Gil. Stick with what has worked. The NRA has been extraordinarily successful in protecting our 2nd A. rights primarily because it concentrates our strength on that one issue alone. Attempting to spread our influence across numerous other crusades would undoubtedly cause dissention in the ranks and destroy our effectiveness. The single issue effectiveness was on display in the brilliant NRA ad campaign of this year. “I’m the NRA, and I’m Freedom’s . . . .” I believe each of us can finish the thought. In a broad way it encompasses the very reason we joined in the first place.… Read more »
