Wisconsin –-(Ammoland.com)- One of my many retirement activities is I am an auxiliary police officer with a suburban Milwaukee County police department.

I am now in my sixth year with that police department and in all that time the other guy was the president. Every time that other guy came to Milwaukee he landed at the Air National Guard base in our little town and the motorcade drove right out the air base gate and onto our suburban streets. It would take almost the entire police department to provide traffic control for the other guy.

I did not like the other guy and I did not really want to work those intense manpower call outs, but I did want to support my police department, so I always volunteered to work when that other guy came to Wisconsin.

Well the other guy is fixing to be history.

The President-elect came back to the State of Wisconsin last night (13 Dec 2016) to thank the Badger state for putting him over the top and telling the world at approximately 9:30 pm (CT) on election night that “Cheese Head” power put Donald Trump into the White House.

For those of you from out-of-state and might not know, the color red is the color of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I know there are lots of those people on the left who wear red in liberal Madison and I thank them even if they did not vote for Mr. Trump.

So it is 5 degrees out and I am at a traffic control point that is denying folks access to a main four-lane highway flowing into the heart of downtown Milwaukee during the late afternoon rush hour. There are always people who will not take no for an answer and just drive off to another avenue to get home.

Of course not, these folks have to drive up to me, block traffic and demand an explanation just why they are being inconvenienced.

Now, on duty we do not talk politics with the public, especially if you are “red” and blocking traffic in the overwhelming “blue” of Milwaukee County. So you tell the citizen the reason their path is blocked is the President-elect is in town. Of course they tell you they did not know that other guy (the one on his way out of office) was coming to Wisconsin. Then you have to advise them what president-elect means and their face drops.

Life in the State of Wisconsin has changed dramatically for the blue side, who had controlled the state for most of the past 100 years. First the red folks took both sides of the state legislature and then the Governor’s office. With the latest election the reds have an even stronger control of Wisconsin.

Remember when being called a “red” was an insult because it meant you leaned to the left and perhaps far enough to the left to enter the sphere of the communists. There was the old saying “better dead than red.”

Now we are red and being red can be an implied insult to people like me on the right. I have a number of red shirts and red UW-Madison sweat shirts that I seem to be wearing a lot lately that has nothing to do with Christmas.

So I guess I say, better red than dead and that phrase is sweet to the ear.

President-elect Trump came to thank Wisconsin for putting him over the top. He re-visited a state the Hillary totally ignored. She ignored us because she thought she had us in her hip pocket. She did have Milwaukee County and liberal Dane County (Madison-the state capitol) in her grasp but that was not enough to carry the Badger state.

It was sort of sad but also funny to watch the left leaning press deny the Wisconsin electoral votes for Trump election night. Fox network put the Badger numbers out and I knew Trump had won. The problem was the numbers did not move for almost another 90 minutes, so I changes TV channels and did something I hardly ever do, I watch the liberal media [eeeww].

None of the other TV networks had included the Badger numbers. The other media outlets knew if they added in the Wisconsin electoral votes it was all over and they just could not go there. Even after Hillary gave up, the liberal media did not add in the Wisconsin numbers until the wee-small hours of the morning.

Sheriff David Clarke– the real Milwaukee Nail, was standing next to President-elect Trump lat the ‘Thank You’ event. His politics as the Sheriff of Milwaukee Country are a bit strange since he is a Democrat, but I do not care. Clarke is a strong supporter of the President-elect and that is all that matters. He helped Donald Trump and that is a good thing. Thank you sir.

So I was miserable that night standing out there in 5 degree weather, but I didn’t care. I never even saw the motorcade I was posted so far away, but I didn’t care. I did not get to see his address to the citizens of Wisconsin on TV because I was posted in the freezing cold but I didn’t care.

It was a very red night that night and to all a good night.
