Mossberg Adds Vortex-Scoped Combos to MVP Patrol Rifle Series

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. -(Ammoland.com)- Introduced in 2013, the Mossberg MVP Series Patrol Rifle combined the versatility of a carbine bolt-action rifle with the ingenious ability to accept and reliably-feed from AR-style magazines.

Now Mossberg is pleased to introduce two Vortex-scoped versions of the MVP Patrol rifle, chambered in 5.56mm NATO/223 Rem and 7.62mm NATO/308 Win.

These full-featured rifles include threaded barrels with A2-style flash suppressor; neoprene Comb-Raising Kit; Magpul PMAG 10-round magazines; and Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32mm variable riflescope with Bullet Drop Compensation (BDC) reticle.

Innovation defined the Mossberg MVP Series, when the first MVP Varmint rifle was introduced in 2011. Its patented Drop-Push hinged-bolt design allowed the use of AR15-style magazines in a bolt-action rifle; a modernization of this traditional platform.

Followed by two additional patented designs (Dual Latching System and Dual Push Bolt) that allowed MVP rifles chambered in 7.62mm NATO (308 Win) to accept both M1A/M14 and AR10-style magazines. Further defining its innovation is Mossberg’s user-adjustable, patented Lightning Bolt-Action (LBA) Trigger System.

Designed for a crisp creep-free trigger pull, the LBA trigger pull is easily adjusted from 3 to 8 pounds. The unique lightning bolt trigger blade blocks the sear from releasing the striker unless the blade is fully depressed, even at the lightest adjustment setting.

This compact MVP rifle features a 16.25-inch medium-bull, button-rifled, threaded barrel. Equipped with an A2-style flash suppressor, standard threading (1/2”-28TPI for the 5.56mm NATO and 5/8”-24TPI for the 7.62mm NATO) allows for the addition of an aftermarket noise-moderating suppressor. Thread cap is included.

A receiver-mounted Picatinny rail provides the base for the Crossfire II optic and the MVP Patrol is also equipped with front fiber optic and barrel-mounted, adjustable rear rifle sights.

MVP Patrol rifles are housed in durable, all-weather black synthetic stocks with a coarse black stippled finish on the pistol grip and forend. The neoprene Comb-Raising Kit comes with foam inserts to customize the comb height for proper eye/sight alignment.

All exposed metalwork features a non-reflective matte blue finish. Completing the MVP Patrol package are oversized tactical bolt handles; distinctive spiral-fluted bolts; front and rear sling swivel studs; and 10-round Magpul PMAG magazines.

Vortex delivers premium features in its Crossfire II variable riflescope series. The MVP Patrol is topped with the Crossfire II 2-7x32mm scope with Dead-Hold BDC reticle, an ideal choice for hunting or shooting at varying ranges, eliminating guesswork on holdover and windage corrections.

Constructed with a hard anodized, single-piece, aircraft-grade aluminum tube, the Crossfire II is water and fog-proof. Long-eye relief; fast-focus eyepiece; fully multi-coated lenses; and resettable MOA turrets are all standard features. Vortex rings are included.
