ACAPULCO, Mexico -(Ammoland.com)- For the fourth time, Acapulco, Mexico’s original beach destination, will host ISSF Shooting World Cup’s second World Cup stage, featuring competitors from across the globe.

The international event, which is part of the Olympic cycle, will be held this year from March 17 to 27 at various locations throughout the destination.

“We’re thrilled to welcome 206 of the best shotgun shooters in the world in what is to be a spectacular event in Acapulco,” said Pedro Haces, president of the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office. “For visitors traveling to Acapulco for this occasion, we look forward to having them experience firsthand Mexico’s most legendary beach destination, its attractions, delicious gastronomy and rich culture.”

Competition categories for men and women throughout the ten-day event include: Trap, Double Trap, and Skeet shooting, with a victory ceremony to honor each day’s winner.

The final Closing Ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 26 at 3:15 p.m. (CST). The competitions and award ceremonies will take place at the Acapulco Hunting, Shooting and Fishing Club.

After a highly competitive process, Acapulco was selected as host city for the championship for the fourth time in the last eight years based on the destination’s extensive tourist facilities, the ease of travel through the city, its communications infrastructure, sponsorship availability and a variety of other resources. Acapulco previously hosted the event in 2010, 2013 and 2015.

The destination plays host to a variety of international events every year, including sports, entertainment, technology and gastronomy, among others.

Recently, Acapulco held one of the 13 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour 500 series tournaments, and welcomed six of the world’s top ten male tennis players, including Novak Djovick, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Milos Raonic, Marin Cilic and David Goffin.

Likewise, the destination will host Tianguis Turistico, Mexico’s most important travel tradeshow on March 27 – 30, where tourism officials will present Acapulco’s newest tourist attraction, XTASEA, the largest over-the-ocean zip line in the world.
