WASHINGTON D.C. -(Ammoland.com)- The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies is proud to announce that Project WILD has joined the Association. Project WILD was previously run by the Council for Environmental Education (CEE).
The Project WILD brand (Project WILD, Project WILD Aquatic, Flying WILD, and Growing Up WILD) brings conservation education through more than 50,000 educators per year, promoting responsible stewardship of natural resources in the United States and several other countries.
“We excitedly welcome Project WILD as part of the Association’s voice in conservation education,” said Nick Wiley, President of the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies and Executive Director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. “Conservation education is one of the most vital tools for enhancing public understanding and appreciation of fish and wildlife management while shaping long-term conservation values and promoting the wise use and the enjoyment of natural resources.”
“We take seriously the trust that CEE has placed in the Association and plan to continue their example of being outstanding stewards of the Project WILD Brand,” said Ron Regan, Executive Director of the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies. “Creating a conservation-literate citizenry that understands how science informs natural resource management is more important than ever and Project Wild helps us achieve this.” Regan added, “I would be remiss were I not to acknowledge the leadership of Ms. Josetta Hawthorne, the long-time CEO of Project WILD, for her many contributions to the success of this important work.”
Project WILD began in 1983 through the hard work and dedication of many groups including CEE, the Western Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, and the state departments of education.
Project WILD is currently being taught in 47 states, and Canada. Project WILD’s goal is to provide wildlife-based conservation and education that fosters responsible actions toward wildlife and related natural resources.
