USA – -(Ammoland.com)-  Taylor’s & Co. Brings Back the Old West with Modern Precision

The 2016 elections give us a break from looking only at firearms that might be banned before we finish paying them off.

For the first time in a long time we can remember the pleasure of shooting and take a look firearms that may serve no other purpose than the simple joy of ownership and range time.

Swinging the pendulum back from hyper-modern, high-capacity, black-plastic defensive tools brings us to an era of wood and color-case hardening.

Taylor’s & Co. Smoke Wagon Deluxe Revolver in .45 Colt

Italian-made 1873 Single-Action Army Colt reproductions are beautiful no matter what your taste in firearms is. These pieces may not be the first or even best pick for the nightstand or daily carry, but it’s hard not to admire their beauty.

Unlike similar offerings from other importers the Taylor’s & Co. Deluxe models offer a bit more.

Similar to the difference between a family sedan and European sport sedan the Deluxe models have been tuned up. The hammer is lowered ever so slightly which makes for a quicker and easier reach and undisclosed magic to the internals. Though the classic four clicks remain cocking the Smoke Wagon Deluxe feels more like gliding a blade over ice. The end result is a handgun that shoots as good as it looks. As a non-cowboy-action shooter I decided to test these improvements and see if they made any difference on the range.

For a more in-depth look at the shooting experience I have added this video as well:

A true work of art. I think it would make a fine home defense gun myself. As they say, a gunfight is usually over in a few shots. She’s a beauty and I’d love to own one.

I did a review on this gun but in 44-40 and I love it. It is one of the most pleasant guns to shoot. Since it was a writer’s sample I could either buy it or send it back. It has a new & permanent home here. I highly recommend this revolver.

Hmm, looks suspiciously like a Uberti! And the “made in Italy” makes me more than a little curious. If it is a Uberti it’s a definite winner. I have owned one with two cylinders 44/44-40 for years and love it. They make fine revolvers.

Yes, they are manufactured by Uberti to Taylor’s & Co. specifications and then tuned here in the US.

Thought so. It looks exactly like the one I own that is more than 30 years old except I have the two cylinders for it, bought it on closeout discount and paid a mere $125.00! It is one of my favorite single action revolvers, finish is excellent, action is great and it’s an absolute pleasure to shoot. With the 44 cylinder I shoot 44 special and there is barely any recoil. With the 44-40 cylinder I use the cowboy loads and just have a ton of fun. This is one gun and one manufacturer that is at the top of… Read more »
