New Class of Hollow Point: Hypercav Bullets

New Class of Hollow Point: Hypercav Bullets
A simple design change to existing Hollow Point bullets has led to a breakthrough in HP performance and reliability.

HyperCav Bullets

Cedar Hill, MO - -(AmmoLand.com)-Hypercav (HC) has integrated the worlds’ first “Ported” ammunition. Patent(s) Pending, the design incorporates small ports perpendicular to the base of the hollow point cavity, allowing the air, which normally becomes trapped after contact with the target to escape, allowing the target tissue to immediately fill the cavity causing the bullet to begin expanding just after impact.

The result is a bullet that is more reliable on expansion over a wider range of in-field conditions.

“Failure to expand (FTE) issues have long plagued the ammunition industry. As effective as HP ammo is, it’s no better than ball ammo if it doesn’t expand. The porting of the HP cavity increases reliability by venting the trapped air, which otherwise would have to be compressed by tissue material to a critical level, thus causing the bullet to begin expansion. During that time, energy is being lost, and many times so much so that the bullet never reaches that “critical mass” moment, and thus no expansion.

It’s a simple matter of physics.” Says ‘They’ (Yes, his real name)- The product designer.

This is a true advance in HP design, and is applicable to literally ALL handgun and rifle HP ammo classes.

Testing and evaluation is ongoing, but to date, results have been very promising. Currently, several manufacturers are looking at this project, and soon, we should see bullets with the new designation; “JHPHC”.

“There are many great bullet designs on the market today. With this simple idea, we can make all ammunition…better.”
