Full Flight Technology

Cambridge, MA - -(Ammoland.com)- The Velocitip System has become a critical tool and de facto industry standard for archery manufacturers who need know how their products perform in the real world.

From bows to arrows to rests and vanes, many of the top manufacturers in the industry are using the Velocitip System to test the results their products deliver downrange.

The Velocitip System is an electronic instrument that measures aerodynamic performance, essential to understanding and improving archery equipment performance. Now, for the first time, you can measure performance at the bow and at the target for each shot. A ruggedized 100-grain field point houses the innovative microelectronic technology that is the heart of the system. The electronic field point fits any arrow shaft using a conventional threaded insert. The electronics activate when the arrow leaves the bow and when it strikes the target, while measuring arrow performance more than 1000 times in between. The Velocitip System is a point-and-shoot instrument with no downrange setup and no lighting requirements, unlike a chronograph.

Take up to four shots and plug the field point into the docking station for immediate download and display. Clear the field point memory and shoot again. The system delivers incredible downrange performance because it records shots up to a full second in length. That’s over 70 yards downrange if you shoot a compound bow. Get results at 100+ yards for the fastest crossbows. The system provides complete ballistic performance data including precise trajectory, retained energy, speed, kinetic energy, momentum, time-of-flight and arrow drag. This is the information you need to deliver flat, consistent arrow flight, maximum accuracy and downrange force. The Velocitip System is the perfect performance-testing device for manufacturers, competitive shooters and bowhunters everywhere because it takes the guesswork out of equipment performance and bow tuning. The Velocitip System is the world’s first true electronic archery-tuning device.

Manufacturers in the archery industry spend countless hours testing their new equipment to make sure it measures up to their own expectations and to the high expectations of the public. The Velocitip System provides factual, reproducible data that manufacturers can rely on when testing equipment. Over the last year, more archery industry manufacturers, magazine editors, independent engineers and pro shops across the world are relying on the Velocitip System when they need to know the facts. Below is a sampling of what industry insiders are saying about the technology.

“The Velocitip from Full Flight Technology gives archers an in-depth look at the flight characteristics of their arrows. From shot to impact, the Velocitip gives archers the information they need to make effective and informed adjustments to their arrow flight. It is an invaluable last step in the bow-tuning process.”
~Rick Mowery, The Bohning Company.

“In this year’s test, we’re introducing two new performance metrics that we feel are destined to become industry standards: AD/40 which predicts arrow drop at 40 yards, and KE/20 which provides a true measurement of kinetic energy at a realistic hunting distance; in this case 20 yards. Both of these tests are possible because of the Velocitip System.”
~Dr. Todd Kuhn, Outdoor Life, Archery Field Editor, 2012 Bow Tests

“The functionality combined with a simple user interface make the Velocitip System a great tool for anyone testing archery equipment performance. Because so much useful information is precisely recorded for each shot, the system enables us to more quickly and easily identify those factors most important to improving arrow design and downrange performance.”
~Nick Meinert, R & D and Technical Support, Victory Archery.

Progress in the archery industry is technology driven. The Velocitip System is easy-to-use technology that gives users fast, precise data about equipment performance. Outdoor Life, Petersen’s Bowhunting and Field & Stream are among those already using Velocitip technology as the industry standard to test and compare manufacturers’ new equipment.

Use the Velocitip System to ensure that you and your customers are getting the most from their bow setup. Whether you’re a designer, manufacturer, pro shop, target archer or bowhunter, you can rely on the science behind the Velocitip technology to produce hard data that can be used to improve product design and help any archer improve their shooting ability.

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. --(Ammoland.com)- With literally a boatload of fish in hand, a team of Georgia young guns—Justin Moody, Michael Tharpe and Jeremy Sanderlin—emerged from a large pack of 62 teams to win first-place laurels at the 14th Annual Muzzy Classic Bowfishing Tournament, April 27th through 28th in Guntersville, Ala.

In the end, three teams hailing from Georgia ended up on the winner’s podium.

Fishing from 7 p.m. on the 27th through 7 a.m. on the 28th in the world’s most prestigious bowfishing tournament, teams of two or three competed for thousands of dollars in prize money, as well as sponsored equipment. The top six teams raked in $9,150 in cash prizes, while other participants won prizes from tables full of sponsored product. But as the boats pulled up to the dock for the final weigh-in, Muzzy Classic winners Moody, Tharpe and Sanderlin had amassed an amazing total of 380.3 lbs. of fish on board for the win.

No strangers to the Muzzy Classic winner’s podium themselves, Tommy Woods, Hunter Woods and Scott Baxter brought in 371.8 lbs. to take $2,500 for second. Yet another team of former Muzzy Classic winners, Michael Evans, Jeff Moomey and Trey Lord, took third with 348 lbs for the $1,500 prize.

In fourth place for their 326.5 lbs. haul, $1,000 went to the Alabama’s Will Mattox, Derek Blevins and Jeremy Plemmons. The fifth-place spot went to Jerry Broadnax, Chad Sullivan and Todd Wingo for their combined 284.8 lbs. of fish. The sixth and final paying slot went to Gary Bergman, Jeremiah Hayes and Jamie Brooks.

In addition to the traditional Big-20 format, Muzzy also awarded prizes to the participants with the largest fish in each category. Jake Birdwell won a Mathews DXT Bow for the largest grass carp, which tipped the scales at 60 lbs. With a big buffalo netting 55.4 lbs., Scott Baxter won a $500 Bass Pro gift card. Chris Tankersley’s 35 pounder won the biggest carp award and a PSE Wave Bow, and Jarrod Bibb was awarded a Hunter Safety System harness for his 58.75-inch gar.

“We extend our most hearty congratulations to the Moody, Tharpe and Sanderlin team and all the other winners for their remarkable catches in the 12-hour period of the Muzzy Classic,” said Mark Land, event coordinator. “Muzzy is exceptionally proud to sponsor this event, and we thank everyone who helps to make it a success. We have already started planning next year’s event, and we expect it to be even bigger and better.”

Goat Tuff Products

Tucson, AZ --(Ammoland.com)- The EQUALIZER Archery Release Aid from Goat Tuff Products offers archers the opportunity of increasing arrow speed without having to increase draw weight.

This revolutionary new design accomplishes this by letting the archer increase draw length by up to 3”. This increase in draw length produces a tremendous increase in performance and arrow speed.

For 2013 the EQUALIZER Release Aid comes with a new Length Adjustment feature that allows perfect placement of the Release Head in the hand. The Length Adjustment feature is made of 60/61 Aircraft Aluminum and secured with a locator lock down screw. Once the optimal position of the Release Head is achieved a few turns of the lock down screw secures it in place.

GOAT TUFF President Jerry Smith noted, “The EQUALIZER was designed by Ric Clark for short draw archers or those that have had to shoot lower poundages due to age or injury. These archers where pretty much stuck with the performance of their bow due to draw length and weight limitations. With the EQUALIZER Release every archer can increase performance by increasing their bow’s draw length up to 3”.

“This increase in draw length gains arrow speed without having to increase draw weight. Our new Length Adjustment feature makes placing the Release Head much easier.”

GOAT TUFF Products also offers the popular line of Goat Tuff cleaning and gluing products for the professional and home arrow maker and the innovative Opti-Vane.

COLUMBUS, Georgia - This Tru-Fire buckle release is designed for ease of use and complete reliability.

The jaws on the Team Realtree Buckle Foldback open when you depress the trigger and close when you let up on the trigger. The unique buckle release utilizes a free-floating, self-centering steel roller that does not slide over the jaws, but rolls along the inside of the jaws.

The Tru-Fire buckle release features more than 1 ¼” of length adjustment between the head and strap by simply turning the head – no tools needed. Thanks to the Tru-Fire Evolution buckle trap, you will never have to fumble to get the end of your strap through the buckle because it already is through the buckle via Tru-Fire’s “arrow head”.

There is no need to ever have to pull the arrow head out of the buckle. It works great with or without gloves. A piece of ballistic material layered between the leather portion of the strap and the padded material keeps any stretching while drawing your bow near zero.

The Realtree Buckle Foldback also includes Tru-Fire’s patented foldback feature, which allows you to stow your release so the head is not in your way when climbing your stand, pulling arrows, rattling, etc. This release is 100 % American made.

ROCHESTER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Crosman Corporation, long known for innovative, high quality products for the shooting sports, has introduced two new bows to its youth archery line.

The Crosman Trapper youth compound bow and the Buggy Bow youth long bow each feature lightweight and compact designs that provide a comfortable advantage for students and beginning archers.

According to Crosman Product Manager, Tom Clark, “If you want to guarantee your young archer develops his or her skills with an appropriately sized and weighted bow, choose one of our new Crosman youth bows. Pick the Trapper compound bow if you wish to prepare your archer for action in the field, or, if target shooting is more your style, choose the classic design of the Buggy Bow long bow,” he said.

Says Clark, “The Crosman Trapper is an excellent choice for the beginning archer. With the Trapper, you can “teach basic shooting technique with ease, and, because of the cam system and 65% let off, it works well for all body sizes.” The Trapper easily converts from right to left handed shooting, depending on the shooter, and features an ambidextrous hand grip. It is 25-inches from axle to axle and has a light, 10-pound draw weight. “It’s perfect for beginners,” says Clark. “The brace height is 7.5 inches and offers forgiveness during the shot. The bow has an adjustable sight, finger and arm guards, and velocities of up to 68 fps. The Trapper comes with three field arrows and a quiver, everything you need to get started,” he said.

“For those who want to teach more classic style archery, choose the Buggy Bow,” says Clark. This youth long bow is suitable for archers of every size and provides all the features needed to learn archery. The Buggy Bow is 45 inches from tip to tip with limbs specially designed for balance and forgiveness. “With a 15-pound draw weight and a 24-inch max draw, this bow allows for years of use before trading up,” Clark said. “The Buggy Bow has an ambidextrous grip for optimum hand placement, arm guard and finger guard. With three wood field arrows and a belt quiver,” says Clark, “This set is ideal for beginning a lifelong love of archery.”

The new Crosman youth archery bows will be available at retail in the spring of 2013. The Trapper has an MSRP of $50 and the Buggy Bow has an MSRP of $32. Crosman Corporation will exhibit the new youth bows with its entire product line at the SHOT Show 2013 in Las Vegas from January 15-18.

Mogadore, OH --(Ammoland.com)- TenPoint Crossbow Technologies’ Chairman and CEO, Rick Bednar, expressing his company’s steadfast disagreement with the decision of the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show management to prohibit the display and sale of Modern Sporting Rifles at its 2013 Harrisburg, PA event, has decided to remove TenPoint’s display from the upcoming February 2-10 show.

“We are taking this action to stand in solidarity with many other shooting and outdoor sporting goods manufacturers in support of the guarantees expressed in the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution,” Bednar said.

“We regret having to make this decision because we have supported this great consumer event nearly every year since our inception in 1994. It is unfortunate, but I believe we must take this position as a matter of principle.”

To underscore his decision, Bednar has also decided to purchase lifetime NRA memberships for all TenPoint employees who wish to have one.

“The NRA, more than any other entity, has led the effort to protect of our right to own and bear arms,” Bednar said. “The best way to support their effort is to grow the ranks of their membership.”

“The NRA mission, however, encompasses greater goals than simply protecting our right to bear arms,” Bednar continued.

“Before we opened our doors for business, we crafted a Corporate Statement that guides our decision making process, and we think it is compatible with the NRA’s larger view. In part, this Statement has motivated us to support their efforts.

Its last sentence states that, ‘… we are committed to the care and conservation of our land, water and air; to the humane and responsible management of our wildlife and to the preservation and expansion of recreational shooting and hunting.’ We believe the NRA shares a similar view.”

Flushing, Michigan --(Ammoland.com)- Carbon Express redefines the crossbow category with their newest offering the Intercept.

Calling the Intercept “A new crossbow” doesn’t do the revolutionary nature of this product justice.

The Intercept is a new kind of hunting crossbow that’s engineered and built to enable amazing customization and provide unmatched adjustability right out of the box.

“We’re creating a whole new segment in the crossbow category with the design and architecture of the new Intercept.” Stated Rob Eastman III, CEO of Eastman Outdoors. “We see the Intercept as the first evolution of a new type of hunting crossbow that gives hunters a crossbow that feels and fits ‘just right’ and can accommodate the parts they want so we’re referring to it as the I-Crossbow .”

The key differentiating feature of the Intercept is the unique Picatinny platform that accommodates most military and commercial spec AR parts to allow hunters to customize the crossbow to their own body type, technique and shooting style. This, combined with the unmatched, multi-point adjustability right out of the box provides a consistent shooting position that’s needed for repeatable performance in the field every time.

The adjustable fit and custom features mean that hunters no longer have to compensate their shooting posture, style or set-up for the weapon. The adjustable 6-position pull stock (13”-19”) creates a custom and consistent shoulder mount. The bow also offers a number of connection points for accessories on the 29 inches of overall Picatinny rail including 15 inches on the top rail, 9 inches on the forearm rail and 4 inches on the stock rail. In addition, the Intercept includes 2 sling studs on the riser and 1 sling plate located on the butt stock.

The upper and bottom rails are designed to accept military spec or commercial spec parts and take advantage of an entire worldwide after market industry for tactical guns. Hunters can attach a new forearm, grip, butt stock, mount the quiver on top or on bottom, upgrade and/or move their scope, etc. “While the standard Intercept package is a performance story by itself, the key differentiator for Intercept is that the ability to customize and adjust it the way that you want it” stated Rob Eastman “It is the first crossbow to combine high quality components, multi-point adjustability, and unlimited customization options in a single offering. This design lets you create your crossbow, your way and that’s why we’re referring to the Intercept as the I-Crossbow.”

The optional accessories are endless to make your shooting experience even better.

A few of the planned accessories include:

Folding grips

Fore Grip Bi-Pods

Adjustable Fore Grips

Quick Detach Scope Mounts

Compact Flashlight w/Quick Detach Mount

Adjustable Butt Stocks

Compact Crossbow Case

Tactical Single Point Shooting Sling

In addition to being the most customizable crossbow in the market, the Intercept’s slim design allows for easy transport in the field. The uncocked size is 17” with a cocked size of just 13-1/2”. With an estimated weight of slightly more than 8lbs, staying stealth in the field while moving to new hunting locations is easy. And, while the Intercept is compact, it is packed with power delivering 360+FPS with a draw weight of 185lbs. and 122 ft. lbs. of Kinetic Energy.

“The team at Carbon Express is very excited about the introduction of the Intercept,” commented Rob Eastman III CEO of Eastman Outdoors.

“The Intercept is the result of our team combining their knowledge of hunting with our technological expertise to offer a new kind of crossbow that we believe will re-define the category. This new open-platform gives the crossbow hunter a way to optimize and customize his weapon for the way he wants to shoot”.

The Intercept opens the door to unlimited customization yet comes packed with premium quality components, ready- to- shoot with multiple points of adjustability out of the box. The kit includes; 1.5-5X32” Illuminated Scope, 3 arrow quick detach quiver, 3 Maxima Blue Streak® Bolts, Field points, cocking rope and Rail Lube.

Other key features include:

Field Storage Tube (patent pending)

Adjustable Scope

Custom Trigger (3lbs. Pull)

High Performance Speed Cams

Butt Stock Attachment Adapter

For those looking for a whole new kind of crossbow hunting experience , the New Intercept from Carbon Express is worth a look – The Intercept will change the way you think about crossbows hunting.

Tarpon Springs, FL --(Ammoland.com)- With a blistering speed of 410 fps, a nearly pound in weight reduction and a more compact, forgiving design, Barnett’s Ghost 410 is breaking records in speed and innovation leaving the competition behind in the dust.

Weighing in at just 7.3 pounds and only 19″ inches wide, this bow is no doubt a game changer.

It may be lighter and faster than its predecessor, the Ghost 400, but the 410 has maintained some of its most impressive features. Like the 400, the 410 features Barnett’s proprietary Carbonlite Riser Technology (CRT), which shifts the balance point away from the riser and back to the shoulder of the shooter. This allows for improved maneuverability and faster target acquisition. Barnett’s unique patent-protected, ultra-light, super-strong Carbonlite riser boasts an incredible 5-to-1 safety factor and provides the perfect balance of weight and speed.

The aluminum flight track produces the smoothest shot in the industry without the added weight. The CROSSWIRE string and cable system blends Barnett’s fibers with the industry’s toughest serving materials, ensuring the shooter has the most stable and reliable string in the industry. As a result, shooters experience a faster, quieter and more precise shot. In addition, the crossbow comes with an Anti Dry Fire Trigger Safety System, making it even more reliable in all conditions.

Three 22″ arrows, Barnett’s new Talon crossbow sling, a new Carbon Cross® three-arrow quiver, a rope-cocking device and premium paper-sighted illuminated scope all come standard in the Ghost 410 package.

Just-Hunt.Com

Texas --(Ammoland.com)- Most of us have a favorite hunting spot whether on public or private ground; the one spot that speaks to our hearts, our instincts and our desire to commune with God’s great outdoors.

For me, that spot is quietly nestled miles down a dirt road in Freestone County, Texas.

While not necessarily a whitetail haven it is target rich as a result of our feral hog population. Occasional opportunities to take deer do arise but hog hunting is a year round activity in that little spot.

It’s small by most accounts but hunts well, especially with a bow. We have several stand locations in predictable places but, like so many of you, I’ve had to settle for lesser positions because of the sheer amount of trees crooked trees on the property!

Over the years I’ve found literally hundreds of perfect spots with perfectly imperfect trees! Some I hunt from blinds while others are routinely unhuntable from blinds because of flooding. Have you been there? How many times have you found the perfect spot of ground to setup on only to realize there isn’t a straight tree in sight?

While a few treestand companies have offered solutions, only one seems to have dropped that problem in its tracks where comfort is an active ingredient.

Johnson 360 Treestand – Whats In The Box

What’s in the box?
Opening the box I found a 19-pound, 34-inch circular platform, a heavy-duty bracket and radius adjustment plate, a two-piece adjustable 3rd Link, two 1-inch ratchet straps, a seat, seatback and seat post, bag of fasteners, a safety harness, bow holder and manuals for both the stand and the harness.

Johnson 360 Treestand Bracket

Setup for success!
Whether your tree is as straight as an arrow or crooked as a question mark, setup is simple. Follow manual instructions to assemble the mounting bracket, 3rd Link and seat. Hang the mounting bracket on your favorite tree and tighten the ratchet straps. Rotate the radius adjustment plate so the platform receiving hooks are level and make sure the spring loaded pin locks the plate into position; the adjustment holes on the mounting bracket are spaced at 1/8-inch intervals for near-minute adjustments. After leveling, tighten the four bolts down to ensure the radius plate does not move or shift. Hang the platform on the receiving hooks and clip the locking pins into place to secure the platform to the mounting bracket. Attach one end of the 3rd Link to the mounting bracket and the other to the platform near the seat hub. Use both holes on the3rd Link to make half-inch leveling adjustments to the platform. Make sure the bracket and platform are level before installing the seat. Using the locking-pin and five adjustment holes on the seat post, spaced at 1-inch intervals, adjust the seat height for comfort. Use appropriate safety and harness systems to ascend, descend, hang, remove and hunt from this or any treestand!

Hunt hard… comfortably!
I found a number of attributes about this stand impressive. Beyond the obvious benefit of hanging a treestand on a crooked tree, comfort is at the top of my list and at the heart of Johnson Treestand’s product development. The 2-inch seat pad was incredibly comfortable and the added lumbar support allowed me to sit back and relax for a full day of hunting. The S-shaped seat post positioned me further back on the platform, creating much appreciated, increased floor space directly in front of me.

Johnson’s 360-degree difference!
The included bow holder keeps your bow conveniently by your side for minimal movement when an unsuspecting deer or feral hog wanders into your kill zone! Speaking of kill zone, it’s just been expanded. Virtually all of us have accepted specific shooting lanes and areas off limits as a result of limited mobility. Not with the Johnson 360! The seat post sits in a nylon bushing at the center of the platform. The seat is virtually silent when moving and allows for 360-degree mobility! This seat system also allowed me to hold at full draw and rotate without obstruction or contact with the tree.

Johnson 360 Treestand On the Level

Let me level with you!
From parts to fabrication this stand is 100-percent American made. Powdercoating, quality welding and durable seating material ensure the stand is ready for Mother Nature’s wrath and the 300-pound weight rating allows big guys like to me hunt all day worry free! The only cons I could see were the weight, lack of accessories, and perhaps a slight improvement idea for semi-permanent stand placement.

At 36 pounds the stand is a bit on the heavier side; however, the stand is comprised of several smaller pieces allowing for improved distribution of weight for carrying into your favorite spot. My hope is that Johnson 360 offers a lighter stand with the same innovation for more frequent stand relocations. I would also like to see more accessories, perhaps a larger or wider seat option for bigger guys, arm rests, attachable pockets or gear bin and even some type of rest for rifle hunters and cameramen. Having said that, Jeremy Johnson, owner of Johnson Treestands, confirmed the company is currently working on some great accessories.

Life at the top of treestand innovation might get lonely if other treestand makers don’t figure out a way to keep up with this type of forward thinking development. The Johnson 360 Treestand was specifically designed with excuse removal in mind. The ability to hang this lock-on treestand on virtually any mature tree standing at up to a 45-degree angle was simply mind-blowing. While weight is a minor factor, this treestand is rock solid, incredibly comfortable and chock-full of my favorite ingredient, innovation; in fact, the Johnson 360 Treestand is nothing less than a game changer for tree hugging hunters everywhere!

Waldo, Wisconsin --(Ammoland.com)- The past four years the NASP World Tournament has been held in Orlando Florida at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Walt Disney World.

The NASP World Tournament has enjoyed great participation by archers from 25 States, Canada, Africa and New Zealand.

We thank our previous hosts and appreciate their dedication and hard work assisting with the production and operation of our first four World Tournaments.

However, NASP has decided, for many logistical reasons, that it is time to relocate the World Tournament. After conducting a survey seeking the input and guidance of our Coaches and Teachers, NASP has decided the location for the 2013 NASP World Championship will be St. Louis Missouri. This location is more geographically centralized in the Country.

It remains equally accessible for all our attendees from other Countries. Provides plenty of off-site attractions and is more financially friendly to all attendees. The new location also allows for a scheduling adjustment that we have been told will be more conducive to the school year and logistically better for coaches, teams and schools.

The location for the 5th NASP World Tournament, Now the 2013 NASP World Championship, is the America Center and Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis Missouri. The date for the 2013 World Championship will be June 28 – 30, 2013. The Competition range will be in the Edward Jones Dome, home of the St. Louis Rams. We will have other halls available as well for practice ranges, exhibitors and other activities. There will be several exhibitors set up throughout this event. We expect approximately 2000 archers to participate in the 2013 NASP World Championship.

In addition to the location change there will also be a qualification change to the 2013 NASP National Rules. This change will establish a minimum score for qualification. Teams and individuals will need to achieve these required minimum scores to participate in the 2013 NASP World Championship. Details and information regarding qualification will be released at a later date. Visit: www.archeryintheschools.org

DALLAS --(Ammoland.com)- Students can now take their bowhunter education course at bowhunter-ed.comon their smartphone, tablet, laptop, or even Internet TV.

“People complete a wide variety of tasks on their smartphones and tablets nowadays, so it makes sense for bowhunter-ed.com to be mobile ready,” said Edward Cossette, user experience director for Kalkomey, parent company of bowhunter-ed.com. “We’ve built in responsive web design, which allows the pages in the course to automatically resize according to the device being used. There’s no app needed, making it very user-friendly.”

Studying at bowhunter-ed.com is free to the public and provides a high-quality online education for those who must obtain their bowhunting education certificate. Hunters are advised to check their state’s regulations because many special bowhunting opportunities, such as public land or urban hunts, require hunters to be certified. Bowhunter-ed.com can help bowhunters earn their certification and learn how to be safer and more successful. Students will learn:

How to safely hunt from treestands.

How to judge distances.

Which arrows and points to select.

Correct shot placement.

Another benefit of bowhunter-ed.com being available on any device is students can access the course on the Web even if the only way they have to connect to the Internet is via their smartphone. Plus, the new mobile-ready site features realistic illustrations and interactive animations that make it easier and more fun to learn about bowhunting safety.

About Kalkomey

Orlando, Florida --(Ammoland.com)- At 6:00PM on Thursday, October 9th, a shrill, whistled “TWEET” rang out throughout ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida.

Thus began three magical days, near Disney World as 1,243 student archers launched nearly 50,000 arrows towards downrange bulls-eyes.

Last week, student archers from twenty-four States, Canada, Namibia, and South Africa gathered at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. These archers had qualified during their respective national tournaments to compete at the 2012 NASP World Invitational Tournament.

This was the National Archery in the Schools Program’s fourth consecutive world archery contest conducted at this complex within Disney World. The trip to Orlando culminated a scholastic archery season that began in January with team try-outs and moved through 40 state and several national tournaments. For example, 7,804 students competed in the US National NASP Tournament held in Louisville, Kentucky on May 10-11th.

Each of the archery teams was comprised of 12-24 students. As required, every NASP team contained both boys and girls. In fact, 42% of the participants were female.

Teams competed in NASP’s Elementary, Middle, or High School Divisions. Grade 6 was the most represented with 115 girls and 149 boys. Among 8th and 12th grade students, girls were the most numerous with 95 girls and 93 boys. When asked, 88-94% of students reported that they love NASP archery! As Meagan Comer from Chickahominy Middle School in Virginia put it, “I love archery because it gives me confidence in what I do and lets me express myself.”

This world tournament followed the same format and protocols that more than 2 million NASP students practiced throughout the 2011-12 school year. Each student used the same Mathews Genesis bow and Easton aluminum arrows. The bows were bare because sights, stabilizers and other aids so common in other forms of archery, are absent in NASP. Every student, regardless of their grade-level or experience shot 5 practice and 15 scored arrows at 80 centimeter Morrell targets from both 10 and 15 meters. A perfect score is 300 (30 bulls-eyes).

Team scores are established by summing the top 12 scores among the team?s archers. Both genders must be represented in the team score. Most students find archery moderately difficult — not so hard they can?t succeed and not so easy that it isn’t a challenge. Or, according to Allison Greenday from Atlee High School notes, “Archery is a sport that doesn’t discriminate according to height, gender, weight or anything….archery has become a part of me !” Before the awards ceremony could commence ties among 10 archers were broken.

Ties are resolved by each archer shooting 5 practice arrows and 5 arrows for score at 15 meters. The NASP world record score of 298/300 was equaled by Cameron Peyton, a Freshman representing Anderson County High School in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The composure exhibited by these student archers was amazing as more than 1,000 relatives, friends, and competitors witnessed the tie-breaking shoot-offs! These are the teams and individuals who won first place awards at the 2012 NASP Tournament. All other results are available at: www.archeryintheschools.org

Volunteers representing the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission were instrumental to the success of this world tournament. These volunteers and thousands of family members and friends were inspired by the pure joy exhibited by the young archers as they competed on a world stage their friends back home could only imagine.

Young Alex Blankenship from Roanoke, Virginia claimed special reasons for being attracted to archery, “I like archery because it is a useful skill to have in the event of a zombie apocalypse and I get to hang out with my friends!”

Tarpon Springs, FL --(Ammoland.com)- The first crossbow to combine a lightweight CarbonLite Riser with reverse draw technology, the Barnett Vengeance exemplifies the tenacity and fortitude necessary for getting the job done.

With a design that represents a quantum leap in crossbow evolution, the Vengeance exhibits significantly less vibration and noise than a traditional draw crossbow.

This radical new reverse draw configuration moves the limb pockets closer to the trigger assembly and places the limbs face forward on the bow, thus shifting the center of gravity closer to the shooter’s body. This drastically reduces the weight at the front of the crossbow, which is essential for a well-balanced shot.

The CarbonLite Riser assembly further reduces the weight without compromising strength or accuracy. The most technically advanced riser ever created for a crossbow, the CarbonLite Riser removes approximately 43 percent of weight from the front end, which dramatically shifts the balance point to the shoulder. The combination of the reverse draw design with the CarbonLite Riser allows the Vengeance to provide the steadiest and most accurate shot possible.

Decorated in a carbon fiber finish or in a high-definition camouflage, the Vengeance is available through retailers as a complete package with crossbow, quick detach quiver, three 22-inch arrows and an illuminated 3×32 multi-reticle scope.

Like all other Barnett Crossbows, the Vengeance is proudly made in the USA.

Speed: 365 fps.

Draw Weight: 140 pounds.

Power Stroke: 18 inches.

Tarpon Springs, FL --(Ammoland.com)- For the deer hunter who likes to take command of the situation, the Barnett Buck Commander is a must.

Shooting 365 fps with a 14-inch power stroke and packing 126 ft. pounds of kinetic energy, the Buck Commander leaves nothing to chance.

Among many of the Buck Commander’s standout features, one of the most notable is its handling and superior balance. The Buck Commander comes standard with the industry’s only proprietary Carbon Riser Technology (CRT). Due mostly to its ultra-light CRT riser, the balance point is shifted away from the riser and back to the shoulder of the shooter. This allows for improved maneuverability and faster target acquisition, and the patented shoot-through foot stirrup allows for more power with a more compact fit.

The Buck Commander is also equipped with custom composite limbs encapsulated with Barnett’s Anti-Vibration Isolation technology. This process not only reduces noise levels 20 to 30 percent, but also protects the limbs from normal wear and tear, thus increasing the life of the limbs along with reducing cable and string wear.

In addition to a fully extruded aluminum flight track, the Buck Commander features the CROSSWIRE string and cable system, which blends Barnett’s fibers with the industry’s toughest serving materials, ensuring the shooter has the most stable and reliable string in the industry. As a result, shooters experience a faster, quieter and more precise shot. An Anti Dry Fire Trigger Safety System makes it even more reliable in all conditions. This Metal Injection Molded Trigger boasts a smooth 3.5 pull and contains the added safety precaution of the Anti Dry Fire feature, eliminating unintentional dry firing of your bow.

The Buck Commander is available through retailers as a complete package with the crossbow, Barnett illuminated 3×32 multi reticle red/green dot sight , a quick-detach quiver and three high-quality Easton 22″ arrows.
