title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- Jim Zumbo of Cody, Wyo., has received the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation&#8217;s highest honor, the Wallace Fennell Pate Wildlife Conservation Award.</p><p>The award honors special contributions of lasting significance for the benefit of elk, other wildlife and their habitat across North America. A bronze sculpture was presented to Zumbo during the 28th annual RMEF convention, which ended Feb. 4 in Las Vegas.</p><p>Zumbo is one of America&#8217;s best-known outdoor writers and host of his own television show. He joined RMEF in 1985, a year and a day after it was founded. The outfit was still teetering in infancy and Zumbo gave it only a 50/50 chance of lasting out the year. But he felt the spirit of the founding leaders, wrote a $600 check and became one of RMEF&#8217;s earliest life members.</p><p>In 1986, he volunteered for duty on the organization&#8217;s first board of directors. It was the first of two terms that Zumbo has served on the RMEF board.</p><p>Zumbo also was among the earliest contributors to &#8220;<em>Bugle</em>&#8221; magazine. His byline and endorsement helped build RMEF credibility among its most important audience &#8211; elk hunters. He continues to plug the organization at sportsmen shows, magazines, books and on television. For 26 years, Zumbo has helped make RMEF what it is today.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;Few people have done more than Jim to communicate the importance of conservation in elk country,&#8221; said David Allen, RMEF president and CEO. &#8220;But his influence also has helped to keep this outfit grounded. RMEF was founded by average elk hunters and they&#8217;re still the core of our membership. Jim never lets us forget that.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>The awards namesake, Wallace Fennell Pate, was RMEF&#8217;s first president and chairman of the board, he dedicated his time, energy and financial resources for the betterment of wildlife in North America. Pate, now deceased, became a national role model for groups or individuals concerned with natural resources conservation.</p><p>Pate&#8217;s son, Jack, attended the recent ceremony and spoke about his father&#8217;s devotion to RMEF and conservation overall.</p><p><strong>About the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation:</strong><br

title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- United States Attorney Robert Pitman, Special Agent in Charge Gary Orchowski, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Houston Division and Special Agent in Charge Jerry Robinette, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement –Homeland Security Investigations in San Antonio announced that two San Antonio men–23–year–old Keith Edwards and 22–year–old Ricky Gonzales– have been sentenced to 87 and 42 months in federal prison, respectively, for their roles in a firearms straw purchasing and trafficking investigation.</p><p>Edwards and Gonzalez, who were sentenced yesterday in U.S. District Court in Del Rio, are two of 22 defendants who have pleaded guilty to federal firearms charges in connection with this investigation. The other defendants include San Antonio area residents Marino Castro, Jr., age 27; Edward Levar Davis, age 33; Jake Lee Cardenas, age 22; Ricky Castillo, age 23; Ronald Joseph Edwards, age 27; Samuel Antonio Escobar, age 23; Roxanne Bernal Guerra, age 32; Oralia Naranjo Ortega, age 45; Roxann Marie Rodriguez, age 24; Rosendo Rodriguez, Jr., age 37; Carlos Veliz, Jr., age 23; David Hance–Colon, age 25; Brittany Hernandez, age 20; Linda Luevanos Gonzalez, age 37; Joanna Elaine Flores, age 25; Crystal Marie Adame, age 20; Israel Cantu, age 31; Maria Montelongo Zavala, age 50; Jose Ytuarte, age 31; and, Antonia Naranjo Lopez, age 46.</p><p>According to court records, the defendants, under the direction of ringleaders Castro and Davis, conspired to illegally purchase firearms from San Antonio area firearms dealers. Once retrieved from straw purchasers, Castro and Davis admittedly arranged to transport the firearms to a staging location in Eagle Pass where they were to be smuggled into Mexico to members of the Los Zetas Drug Trafficking Organization. Between May 2010 and August 2010, authorities intercepted five different shipments attributed to this trafficking cell and seized over 200 firearms, including handguns, AK–47 and AR–15–style assault rifles and one .50 caliber Barrett sniper rifle.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;People who make false statements in connection with the purchase of firearms need to know two things: first, it is likely that those firearms are being used by those who eventually receive them to commit violent crimes, often against innocent victims; and two, that their role in facilitating the acquisition of firearms by criminals – even if that role is being paid a couple of hundred dollars for buying a firearm and passing it off to a middle man – will net them a federal prison sentence of up to ten years,&#8221; stated United States Attorney Robert Pitman.</p></blockquote><p>To date, nine of the defendants have been sentenced to federal prison terms–14 years (Davis), 10 years (Castillo), 87 months (Edwards), 72 months (Cardenas), 57 months (Linda Gonzalez), 42 months (Ricky Gonzales), 37 months (Hance), 21 months (Ortega), and 12 months (Veliz). Marino Castro is scheduled to be sentenced at 11:00am on May 21, 2012, in Del Rio before United States District Judge Alia Moses. Antonia Lopez died of cancer prior to sentencing. Sentencings for the remaining defendants are scheduled throughout February, March and April.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;This is an example on how Federal and State agencies working together can deny the criminal element the tools of their violent trade. Lives were saved by denying the criminals hundreds of firearms,&#8221; stated Special Agent in Charge Gary Orchowski, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Houston Division.</p><p>&#8220;One of HSI’s top priorities is the dismantling of organizations involved in the smuggling of firearms to Mexican drug cartels,&#8221; said Jerry Robinette, special agent in charge for HSI in San Antonio. &#8220;The collective expertise and authorities of our law enforcement partners during this investigation significantly contributed to preventing hundreds of rifles and handguns from reaching violent criminal organizations and prosecuting those who were responsible.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>This case was investigated by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (ICE–HSI) with assistance from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- Notice of Proposed Rulemaking – The Department of Justice is proposing to amend the regulations of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to extend the term of import permits for firearms, ammunition, and defense articles from 1 year to 2 years.</p><p>The additional time will allow importers sufficient time to complete the importation of the authorized commodity. In addition, it will eliminate the need for the importer to submit a new import application, ATF Form 6, where the importation was not completed within the 1-year period.</p><p>Extending the term of import permits will result in a substantial cost and time savings for both the industry and ATF.</p><p>This proposed change would be consistent with Executive Order 13563 of January 18, 2011, which directs agencies to review existing significant rules to make regulatory programs more effective or less burdensome in achieving regulatory objectives.</p><p><strong>DATES:</strong> Written comments must be postmarked and electronic comments must be submitted on or before May 7, 2012. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- Dave Kaleta (Shamokin, PA), founder and president of Habitat for Wildlife, Inc., has received the 2012 Eastern Sports &amp; Outdoor Show Humanitarian Award for his continued efforts to improve the ecology of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s coal region.</p><p>Habitat for Wildlife, Inc. is an organization of conservation-oriented people dedicated to restoring, protecting and enhancing the wild areas of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Anthracite region. One of their most significant contributions was the establishment and development of the Alaska Site in Northumberland County. Their efforts have turned what was once an area of coal banks, strip mines and illegal dumping sites into a thriving habitat for grouse, woodcock, deer, turkey, bear and other non-game species.</p><p>Over the last 12 years, Habitat for Wildlife has planted more than 43,000 seedlings and 68 acres of food and cover plots on both reclaimed and non-reclaimed mine lands. They have removed thousands of illegally dumped tires and hundreds of tons of trash from illegal dumpsites. These efforts have reduced the negative visual impact to this economically depressed area, reduced the number of disease-carrying mosquitoes and rodents, and greatly reduced the risk of ground water pollution.</p><p>Last year, Habitat for Wildlife conducted an experimental brook trout stocking in Carbon Run, a tributary of Shamokin Creek. If successful, it is hoped that these trout stockings will help boost the attitude of local (as well as other) people toward the coal region’s environment.</p><p>Habitat for Wildlife also works on environmental improvement projects in tandem with other area conservation groups, including: Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance, Woodcock Limited of Pennsylvania, and Pheasants Forever.</p><p>The Eastern Sports &amp; Outdoor Show Humanitarian Award is presented annually to an individual or organization in recognition of their demonstrated commitment to using their knowledge of the outdoors and outdoor sports to improve and support their community.</p>Tags: <a

title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- The January 2012 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 920,840 is an increase of 17.3 percent over the NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 784,856 in January 2011.</p><p>For comparison, the unadjusted January 2012 NICS figure of 1,368,816 reflects a 4.3 percent increase from the unadjusted NICS figure of 1,312,544 in January 2011.</p><p>This marks the 20th straight month that NSSF-adjusted NICS figures have increased when compared to the same period the previous year.</p><p>The NSSF-adjusted NICS data were derived by subtracting out NICS purpose code permit checks used by several states such as Kentucky, Iowa and Utah for CCW permit application checks as well as checks on active CCW permit databases.</p><p>Though not a direct correlation to firearms sales, the NSSF-adjusted NICS data provide a more accurate picture of current market conditions. Edward Acevedo (D- Chicago), would prohibit acquiring new firearms that are classified as <em>“assault weapons.”</em></p><p>The new definition for <em>“assault weapon”</em> would include many commonly used hunting firearms such as semi-automatic shotguns with a thumbhole stock or a pistol grip.</p><p>An exemption in the bill would allow a person to possess a so-called <em>“assault weapon”</em> while hunting and traveling to or from hunting. However, this is no relief for sportsmen or gun enthusiasts as the exemption would not include target shooting or the possession of <em>“assault weapons”</em> while at home.</p><p>The bill has been passed out of the House Committee on Rules and could be voted on by the full House soon.</p><blockquote><p>“House Bill 1294 would ban many firearms that are commonly used by hunters in the state,” said Evan Heusinkveld, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance director of state services. “Sportsmen need to call their representatives today to protect their right to own a firearm.”</p></blockquote><p><strong>Take Action</strong>! Illinois sportsmen and gun owners should contact their state representatives and ask them to oppose House Bill 1294. We cover a large land area with mostly farmland and sparse establishments of homes that are mostly occupied with low income family.</p><p>We operate nearly entirely off of a budget made up of the proceeds from our annual Volunteer Dinner and Auction. This has allowed us to make payments on our station and the matches to our federal grants. I originally wrote this article back on July 20th 2009 in the aftermath of a shootout between two criminals and the Police in which an Officer was wounded and eventually died from his wounds a few days later. Given the fact that<a

title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- Late last week there was a shootout in Jersey City NJ involving a convicted felon already under investigation for a previous armed robbery, and his girlfriend as an active accomplice.</p><p>When two plainclothes detectives approached the two suspects on the street in the early morning hours one of the suspects already barred by Federal Law from even touching a firearm, immediately pulled out a shotgun and opened fire on the Officers. This lead to a standoff, which culminated in a barricade situation in which the Jersey City Special Response Team stormed the apartment and a second gun battle ensued, resulting in the deaths of both suspects and the injury of five Jersey City Officers, including two critically.</p><p>In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Jersey City Police Chief Thomas Comey addressed the media at a press conference concerning the incident and the Officers condition in the Hospital parking lot. During that press conference Chief Comey, understandably shaken and upset, succumbed to his emotions and bellowed about the need to do something about getting the guns off the streets, that the firearm used is<em> &#8220;only used for hunting man&#8221;</em> and that in his view <em>&#8220;the shotgun in question was an assault weapon, to be used only by the Military and Police&#8221;.</em></p><blockquote><p><em>While one can certainly understand to a degree Chief Comey&#8217;s outburst given the circumstances, that is not an excuse to jettison ones professional demeanor and take up the absurd mantra of even more restrictions on law abiding citizens because of the actions of criminals that clearly show their unabashed willingness to flaunt the existing laws at every opportunity.</em></p></blockquote><p>A quick check of the follow up article in the Star Ledger the next day shows that one of the Officers shot had already had a previous run in with one of the shooters. Officer Marc Dinardo, the most seriously wounded, had arrested the shooter and suspect Hassan Skakur back in 2002 for being a felon in possession of a firearm, a direct violation of both State and Federal Law.</p><ul><li>Skakur served a tad more then four years for that offense, which calls for a minimum and mandatory sentence of five years in Federal Prison. Link to the story here: http://tiny.cc/xrxkk</li><li>Now contrast Skakur&#8217;s sentence with another NJ Criminal, also reported on by the Star Ledger, not quite a year ago. In that case Shawntrail Lee was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to <strong>fifteen years</strong> in Federal Prison! Mr Lee&#8217;s trial and conviction took place in Augusta Georgia. Link here: http://tiny.cc/4s9v5</li></ul><p>The citizens of this state need to ask themselves why in a state claiming to be so &#8216;<em>hard</em>&#8216; on gun crime could sentence so lightly a known felon with an extensive rap sheet tried and convicted of illegal possession of a firearm punishing him with only a little more then 50 months in jail; but the <strong>same exact</strong> charge in Georgia, one of those States that Bryan Miller excoriates for its <em>&#8220;weak gun laws&#8221;</em> sentenced the violator with 15 years in the Federal Pen.</p><p>I deeply sympathize with the injured Officers and wish them all a full and speedy recovery. Frankly they did us all a favor as tax payers by disposing of a couple of sociopathic violent animals.</p><blockquote><p><em>But the fact remains as long as the State Legislature, The Governor, the Attorney General&#8217;s Office and certain Law Enforcement Officials continue to parrot the bold face lies of the Anti gun crowd that seeks to put the gun in jail, rather than the criminal, these types of shootings will continue.</em></p></blockquote><p>By refusing to thoroughly punish those who transgress the law, and posturing against firearms as a pretext for their failure of policy, yet more incidents will continue to take place in New Jersey&#8217;s &#8220;<em>gun free killing zone&#8221;</em>, while the rights of the law abiding will continue to be assailed as a sacrificial lamb on the alter of political correctness by spineless politicians who have no interest in anything other then their next campaign.</p><blockquote><p>In a stunning twist even Paul Helmke , President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence recently admitted to an Akron Ohio Newspaper that <em>&#8220;guns don’t kill people, people do.&#8221;</em> Something anyone with an once of common sense and the ability to engage in critical thinking and logic has known for years.</p></blockquote><p>If Mr Helmke can acknowledge such an obvious and fundamental truth after years of denial, there&#8217;s still a slight hope the Leaders of New Jersey will reach the same conclusion. But the first step down that path is to stop hiding behind emotion and misrepresentation and admit the truth, we have a violent crime problem not because of the availability of guns, but because of the distinct lack of elected and appointed officials willing to uphold their oath of office and give voice to something we all know.</p><blockquote><p><em>Lock up the criminals for a long time and leave the law abiding, freedom loving citizens alone!</em></p></blockquote><p><object

Understated chrome accents include body-side molding, mirrors, door handles and tubular side steps.</p><p>The Laramie Limited’s body side has a clean, “<em>street truck</em>” look and eliminates the traditional HEMI, Cummins and Ram model line badges.</p><p>Tailgate badging includes the chrome Ram’s Head logo and a small italicized block-letter “<em>Limited</em>.”</p><p>Ram 1500 Laramie Limited shares 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with the Ram Laramie Longhorn. /> The 2012 Ram Laramie Limited Edition features a modern, luxurious interior.</p><p>A full-leather cockpit with dark slate Natura Plus leather seats and engraved details lend the Ram Laramie Limited an unmatched level of sophistication and style.</p><p>Contrasting medium graystone leather piping provides seat-edge emphasis. Additional accents are created along either side of the piping by medium graystone deck-seam stitching.</p><p>The Ram Laramie Limited’s cavernous double-stacked center console is topped with a soft, double French-stitched full-leather lid.</p><p>In addition to 100 percent leather seat coverings, Ram Laramie Limited gets a premium leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter &#8212; console mounted on 1500, column mounted on 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models. Accent medium graystone X-stitch detailing sets off both the steering wheel and shifter.</p><p>Door trim front and rear also is wrapped in premium leather. Leather armrest uppers are further accented with the same dual French stitch used on the center console lid and instrument panel.</p><p>Ram Laramie Limited editions receive remote LED lighting at the inside door handles and a full-length light that illuminates the truck’s multi-function lower map pockets, front and rear.</p><p>The dash features a center stack trimmed in high-gloss piano-black. Liquid graphite side bezels and bright chrome vent rings complete the center stack’s detailing. Richardson announced today a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the burglary of The Man Cave, a pawn shop and federally licensed firearms (FFL) dealer, located at 109 4th Street, Rawlins, Cheyenne, WY.</p><p>On January 24th, 2012, during the early morning hours, forcible entry was made into The Man Cave pawn shop and 10 firearms were stolen. The firearms included 5 handguns and 5 rifles.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;The theft of any number of firearms poses a serious threat to the community,&#8221; said Richardson. &#8220;The theft of these 10 firearms, in the hands of criminals, can cause immeasurable harm to innocent victims.&#8221; ATF is the federal law enforcement agency that investigates firearms thefts, which results in significant federal prison sentences for the person or persons responsible.</p></blockquote><p>The burglary at The Man Cave is being investigated by the ATF Cheyenne Field Office and the Rawlins Police Department. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- Soviet Sergeant Mikhail Surkov, the best and most prominent sniper of World War II, killed seven hundred and two German soldiers and officers <em>– an entire Nazi battalion!</em></p><p>Lyudmila Pavlyuchenko, the most successful <span
style="text-decoration: underline;">female sniper</span> is credited with three hundred and nine kills.</p><p>Twenty of the best Soviet snipers took the lives of eight thousand five hundred Nazis <em>– that&#8217;s three German regiments</em>!</p><blockquote><p><em>Hundreds of thousands of German troops were indeed killed by Soviet snipers.</em></p></blockquote><p>However, a WWII sniper is not some lone wolf-shooter who crawls the battlefield under his own unguided direction, killing the enemy from an ambush.</p><p>Every sniper has to first master the craft of a soldier: be able to belly crawl hundreds of yards, run fast, learn camouflage and concealment techniques and, of course, shoot perfectly from any position. Snipers studied the operation and design of the rifle sights to determine and estimate the range to the target, wind velocity, the target&#8217;s speed and quickly perform necessary calculations. They worked hard on observation and concentration techniques, practiced firmly holding their hand and slowly squeezing the trigger. By the end of the training course Soviet snipers were required to perform such exercises as shooting at a distance of 1,000 meters against a machine gun target, killing a sentry at 800 meters, shooting a chest target at 500 meters, and with a telescope lens at 250 meters.</p><p>Moreover, snipers had to have the skills to fight as infantrymen – i.e. operate small arms, machine-guns, and anti-tank rifles. These soldiers studied the techniques of bayonet fighting, throwing grenades and Molotov cocktails.</p><blockquote><p><em>Indeed, a sniper was one of the most fearsome warriors on the battlefield!</em></p></blockquote><p>Therefore, 428,335 snipers graduated from the USSR&#8217;s Universal Military Training during World War II, on top of that, 9,534 elite snipers were trained by the Central Command. Some 1,885 female snipers, graduates of the female sniper school, fought in the Great Patriotic War. Just one female sniper company of the 3rd Attack Army killed 3,012 German soldiers and officers on its way from the town of Velikiye Luki to Berlin.</p><p>The main weapon of any sniper is the <em>sniper rifle</em>. In World War II it was the prominent Mosin rifle, fitted with a sniper sight, and the Simonov self-loading carbine with the same sight. They demanded much better quality of the barrel than was used with standard models. And snipers got the best. But in modern dynamic battles a bolt-action rifle no longer complied with the tactical requirements. So in 1963 the Dragunov semi-automatic rifle was adopted and remained the main sniper rifle of both Soviet and Russian Armies for nearly fifty years.</p><p><strong>During that time the military strategy and tactics evolved:</strong> the Global War theory stepped down in favor of local conflicts and counter-terrorist operations, which required new combat techniques and new weapons. Big wartime battalions were replaced with Special Forces groups; ambushes, raid and infiltration tactics forced away conventional firing lines and trenches. Under those conditions the role of a sniper dramatically increased. Today, the sniper is not just an elite shooter, but being skilled in camouflage and concealment, self-control and equipped with perfect optics, he is also an ideal scout, a forward observer, and a spotter. And these elite soldiers needed an elite sniper rifle able to accurately hit any target at long-range distances. But Russian arsenals had no such rifles&#8230;</p><p>For a few years there was a long discussion in the press that the Russian small arms production was in deep crisis. They said Russia was hopelessly behind the West in the production of barrels and consequently could not produce any accurate sniper rifles. TV showed foreign rifles that could be adopted by the Russian Defense Ministry.</p><blockquote><p><em>It was argued that there was no hope to catch up with the West, and it&#8217;s time to buy foreign small arms; and that Russia needed a true revolution in firing-arms production to reach a new level.</em></p></blockquote><p>So when a year ago some media suggested that an elite-rifle production plant would soon be established in Moscow, it frankly seemed utopian at the time. That was impossible! There was no production, no machines and tools, no specialists and technologies. There are no miracles!</p><div

title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) opened this morning’s hearings by providing a timeline for Fast and Furious: a timeline that briefly described the role of every law enforcement agency involved.</p><p>He spoke about the debt we owe Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, and agent Terry’s family. And he announced that ATF whistleblower John Dodson was present in the room for the hearings today. <em>(Dodson is the Phoenix agent who risked his career and his life to <a
href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvRzrSXota8">inform Congress </a>about details of Fast and Furious as they were visible to him on the street.)</em></p><p>Then Issa dug in deeper:</p><blockquote><p><em>On Oct 11, 2011, after months and months and months of this committee trying to get further documents, we issued subpoenas for documents and were told they’re hard to get. Yet, ten times as many documents have been provided to the Inspector General. Mr. Attorney General, when is the primary investigative committee of congress going to be allowed the same access that the IG has? That the twelve thousand members of the IG have? We ask very little of government by contrast, …but we believe we deserve those answers in at least as timely a fashion as your own IG gets.</em></p></blockquote><blockquote><p><em>We’re going to ask you many things today, hopefully you came prepared to know [the answers to questions] on Fast and Furious. Questions like: What can you do to bring this to a close? What can you do to help the American people know this is no longer going on and will not happen again in the future?</em></p></blockquote><p>Issa then went on to talk in detail of how frustrating it’s been to try to get information to date. In doing this he referenced former U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, the attorney who covered up the connection between Fast and Furious and Brian Terry’s death. And he suggested that Burke <em>“clearly didn’t do his job in a way that anyone can be proud of.”</em> Issa then pointed to more stonewalling on the part of the DOJ, and specifically drew attention to <a
href="http://biggovernment.com/awrhawkins/2012/01/20/breaking-on-fast-and-furious-cunningham-agrees-to-appear-before-issas-committee-but-refuses-to-testify/" target="_blank">Patrick J. Cunningham</a>, who, when subpoenaed, invoked the 5th to keep from telling what he knew about Fast and Furious.</p><p>After Issa set the stage thus, it was time for the ranking Democrat on the committee, Elijah Cummings (MD), to provide his opening statement. And Cummings used the statement to let Holder know the Democrats were on his side. He then talked of how cooperative Holder has been and gave the A.G. credit for discovering that the roots of gun-running lie with George W. Bush, not the current administration.<em> (Who knew?)</em></p><p>Said Cummings:</p><blockquote><p><em>We’ve interviewed 22 witnesses and reviewed thousands of pages of documents. Because of our extensive work we’ve had concrete results. The committee has uncovered a 5 year practice of gun-walking out of the Phoenix ATF office.</em></p></blockquote><p>Cummings then referenced Operation Wide Receiver again and compared it to Fast and Furious, which is like comparing a toddler’s fastball pitch to that of Nolan Ryan, and added: “<em>But the committee found no evidence that the AG authorized gun walking. None of the agents described talking to the AG about gun walking.” </em>Cummings then directed the closing portion of his comments to Chairman Issa, instead of Holder, and said this was the 6th time the Attorney General had testified about these issues, and he criticized Issa for holding what Cummings described as<em> “more of a political campaign than a real hearing.”</em></p><p><strong>Bottom line:</strong> The opening salvo showed that Issa is all business and intends to get to the bottom of this today. However, the Democrats, for whom Cummings spoke, have let Holder know they’ve got his back, regardless of the facts.</p><div

title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- While its certainly true that firearms rights and freedoms have seen an exponential increase over the last thirty years, its equally true that those rights have been hard won.</p><p>Gun owners having to constantly push back against a tsunami of deliberate misrepresentations and out right lies foisted on an uneducated public by various gun control groups, aided and abetted by their ideological puppet-masters in the mainstream media.</p><p>These anti freedom demagogues have NO moral or ethical constraints to restrain them from their malicious malfeasance, so it&#8217;s left to the true grassroots individuals and assorted groups on the side of freedom to take up the task of informing the public of the facts. The 2008 SCOTUS <em>Case Heller v DC</em> is just one recent example. The anti gun zealots insisted to anyone that would listen up to, during, after and even today, nearly three years after the ruling;<em> that this case was the first time the Supreme Ct ruled in such a way.</em></p><p>This is bald faced LIE and is something that can easily be proven as such with a simple five minute Google or Amazon search for a book titled <em>&#8221; Supreme Court Gun Cases&#8221;</em> which covers two centuries and ninety two separate cases where the Supreme Court addressed the issue of the Second Amendment and firearms ownership and use as an individual and protected right.</p><p>The more recent case of<em> Chicago v McDonald,</em> affirming that the Second Amendment was a protected individual right, binding against the States via the Fourteenth Amendment, should have been the final nail in the coffin for the gun banners, yet the various groups, anti gun politicians and their enablers in the media have obstinately persisted in their efforts to do everything within their power to actively work to deny this fundamental civil right to as many people as possible, in every way they can conceive, with some of the most twisted logic and absurd reasoning ever voiced or put to paper.</p><blockquote><p><em>Sadly, this is not the first time in our Country&#8217;s history we have born witness to this type of despicable and despotic behavior before and should easily recognize it.</em></p></blockquote><p>We saw it with the enactment of the Sullivan Law in NY, designed solely to deprive recent immigrants their American Civil Right to firearms, because they were viewed as a threat to the &#8221; <em>establishment</em> &#8221; and slandered in the most vicious manner imaginable.</p><p>We saw this repeated again with the Civil Rights movement and again with the anti gay rhetoric during the 80&#8242;s. Anti Firearms ownership, use, and carry is just the latest iteration of a decades old dogma, one that you would think the majority of the population would have learned by now to dismiss for what it is, a baseless, bigoted, immoral and ethically bankrupt mindset.</p><p>During the Civil Rights Era, many people, citizens and politicians alike excoriated Rosa Parks for daring to stand up for herself and the rights of all African Americans by challenging the status quo. She and many, many others endured vicious verbal attacks, physical attacks, threats and the worst of human behavior at the hands of her fellow citizens, as did homosexuals when they first gained the courage to<em> &#8220;come out of the closet&#8221;.</em></p><p>Pro Freedom, Pro Firearms patriots of every color, creed, race, socioeconomic level, and sexual orientation now find themselves enduring the same despicable behavior. I find it disturbing that the people that claim the loudest to be the most open minded and inclusive are the same people that yell the loudest about how backward, unenlightened, uneducated and dangerous firearms owners are.  How they deserve to be shunned, shamed and viciously attacked for nothing more then daring to uphold the ideals of the Founding Fathers.  Or the desire to embrace their freedom and civil rights and have the ability to defend their lives and the lives of their loved ones from criminal predators that our justice system has shown time and again to be unable or unwilling to deal with in any meaningful manner.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><em>More articles, commentary and information by Dan Robert available at <a

This year’s event also included an expanded short and long range shooting areas which allowed the media to test many more new products than ever before.</p><blockquote><p>“Media Day dramatically improved our new product launch at SHOT Show,” said Jody Lamb, Marketing Manager for VANGUARD, a manufacturer of sporting optics and shooting accessories. “Hundreds of editors, writers and TV and radio hosts put our binoculars and spotting scopes to the test out on the range. You really can’t tell the quality of glass inside of a convention center so Media Day made it an effective setting for everyone. We’re so excited to see everyone again next year.”</p></blockquote><p>Accordingly to Bill Dermody of Savage Arms, “I got more PR work done in one day than in months. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- I think the mainstream media and Washington elite think the majority of voters just fell off the turnip truck.</p><p>But the South Carolina primary and other current voting trends show otherwise.</p><p>The MSM&#8217;s are working double time to get us to forget about the unprecedented results of the South Carolina primary, but they are a sign of what could be in Florida, Nevada and beyond. They are also proof that American citizens will not be outwitted by the political shenanigans of the powers that be.</p><p><strong>Let me give you a few examples.</strong><br
/> Despite the fact that ABC paraded Newt Gingrich&#8217;s bitter ex-wife across its airwaves two nights before the South Carolina primary, Newt won women&#8217;s votes 36-30 percent over Mitt Romney. And married women and evangelical women both backed Gingrich with 40 percent support.</p><p>Despite <em>(or maybe on account of)</em> Mitt&#8217;s creation of Romneycare in Massachusetts and promises for Social Security&#8217;s perpetuity, Newt gained 47 percent of the vote <em>(to Mitt&#8217;s 36 percent)</em> among those 65 or older.</p><p>Despite the MSM&#8217;s attempt to convey Newt as old and outdated, he received 27 percent of votes from those between 18 and 29 years old, only being beaten by Ron Paul&#8217;s 32 percent.</p><p>Despite the MSM and Washington elite&#8217;s campaign to convey that Newt would be dangerous to the country and world, 39 percent of U.S. veterans voted for Newt, compared with 32 percent for Romney.</p><p>Despite Romney&#8217;s spending millions on ads in South Carolina to convince voters that Newt is an ethically compromised Washington insider, Newt won 45 percent of the votes from very conservative voters, while Rick Santorum and Romney trailed with 23 and 20 percent, respectively.</p><p>Despite the MSM&#8217;s pro-Romney coverage and six years of Romney&#8217;s campaigning, Newt stole 31 percent of moderates&#8217; votes from the Massachusetts moderate.</p><p>Despite Romney&#8217;s often-flaunted business credentials, 8 in 10 voters who said they were very worried about the direction of the economy also voted for Newt.</p><p>Despite the fact that 120 evangelical leaders met recently in Texas and claimed to have come to a consensus backing Santorum, the initial vote of those leaders split almost evenly between Santorum and Newt, 57-48, according to CBN News&#8217; chief political correspondent. I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s coincidental that a similar amount, 45 percent, of evangelicals also voted for Newt in his landslide South Carolina victory. Forty-five percent of pro-lifers also voted for Newt, compared with just 21 percent for Romney.</p><p>Even in Florida, Newt&#8217;s popularity is evident by the sizes of his audiences. Despite the fact that Washington heavyweights John McCain and Bob Dole have come out to endorse Romney <em>— in a drive that The Boston Globe described as &#8220;GOP insiders (rising) up to cut Gingrich down to size&#8221; —</em> the Los Angeles Times reported this past week that<em> &#8220;Newt Gingrich (is) winning the crowd contest in Florida.&#8221;</em></p><p>And despite the fact that Romney and his cronies have and will spend millions more dollars in Florida and Nevada to perforate Newt&#8217;s character and record again<em> — according to Newsmax, in Florida 20 times more money has been spent for Romney than has been spent there in support of any other Republican candidate —</em> I believe that voters will be neither bought by his money nor directed by his political spin and rhetoric, just as those in South Carolina didn&#8217;t fall for the fool&#8217;s gold.</p><p>More proof came this past week via the triple-gang of the MSM, Romney and Washington elite.</p><p>They all pounced again on Newt, claiming he is not a Reagan conservative. But they were discounted again, as former President Ronald Reagan&#8217;s eldest son, Mike, who also has endorsed Newt, joined radio talk show legend Rush Limbaugh by lambasting Newt&#8217;s critics.</p><blockquote><p>Mike said, &#8220;I am deeply disturbed that supporters of Mitt Romney are claiming that Newt Gingrich is not a true Reaganite and are even claiming that Newt was a strong critic of my father.&#8221; And Limbaugh added, &#8220;That kind of stuff is why people hate Romney so much.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>Newsmax reported that in a 1995 speech at a dinner honoring Reagan, former first lady Nancy Reagan said:</p><blockquote><p><em>&#8220;The dramatic movement of 1995 is an outgrowth of a much earlier crusade that goes back half a century. Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.&#8221;</em></p></blockquote><p>There&#8217;s a reason 34 percent of those who voted for Newt in South Carolina said they<em> &#8220;strongly supported&#8221;</em> the tea party, dispelling another MSM myth <em>(or is that a wish?)</em> that the tea party&#8217;s influence has dwindled. Thirty-one percent of independents also voted for Newt.</p><p>To the naysayers of Newt, these words from Theodore Roosevelt are appropriate:</p><blockquote><p><em>&#8220;It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. </em></p><p><em>The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause, who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.&#8221;</em></p></blockquote><p>I think it&#8217;s time again that &#8220;<em>we the people</em>&#8221; showed the media and Washington elite exactly who is in charge.</p><blockquote><p><em>South Carolinians were not duped by the titans of political swing. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) joined the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA), and other partners at the 2012 SHOT Show to announce the start of a yearlong celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program (WSFR), one of the most significant and successful partnership approaches to fish and wildlife conservation in U.S. history.</p><p>The &#8220;<em>WSFR 75 &#8211; It&#8217;s Your Nature&#8221;</em> celebration brings together federal and state fish and wildlife agencies; the hunting, shooting, angling, and boating industries; and conservation groups to mark a milestone of partnership success that has led to 75 years of quality hunting, fishing, shooting, boating and wildlife-related recreation. The occasion also marks the beginning of a new era in wildlife conservation, during which the partners will establish new goals for fostering and maintaining partnerships to continue conservation and outdoor recreation into the next 75 years and beyond.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;The Service is proud to join our partners in recognizing more than seven decades of wildlife conservation and quality outdoor recreational opportunities,&#8221; said Director Dan Ashe of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. &#8220;With our nation&#8217;s support and our partnership&#8217;s renewed commitment, WSFR will help more Americans enjoy wildlife and our great outdoors for many years to come.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>Through the WSFR program, several innovative and foundational fish and wildlife conservation programs are administered. The first was created on September 2, 1937 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act, which raises funds through a dedicated excise tax on sporting guns and ammunition. In 1950, the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration Act was enacted and added to the WSFR program. Through this law, funds are provided for fish conservation and boating and fishing recreational programs in each state through an excise tax placed on certain fishing and boating equipment and fuels.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;Since its 1937 inception, WSFR has provided more than $14 billion to support fish and wildlife restoration and management,&#8221; said Hannibal Bolton, the Service&#8217;s assistant director for the WSFR program. &#8220;The program and its partners, including the sporting arms industry, conservation groups, and sportsmen and sportswomen, are coming together for this anniversary to renew their commitment to conserve fish and wildlife and enhance hunter, angler, and boater recreation.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>These funds, administered by the Service, are combined with hunting license dollars in each state to fund important state wildlife conservation and hunting programs.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;The 75th anniversary of the WSFR program is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate the conservation victories that have been made possible because of this innovative funding approach,&#8221; said Jonathan Gassett, PhD, president, Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. &#8220;WSFR has made the difference for the survival and abundance of some species, and because of it, many fish and wildlife populations are at historically high levels today.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>Industry and agency partnerships have helped to the successes of the WSFR program to become what it is today.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;The WSFR programs have not only supported fish and wildlife conservation, they have also supported small businesses that manufacture and sell hunting and fishing equipment,&#8221; said Myke Lynch, general manager of Green Top Sporting Goods in Richmond, Virginia. &#8220;The industry supporting sportsmen has a multi-million dollar impact on the nation&#8217;s economy, and it depends on healthy fish and wildlife populations.&#8221;</p></blockquote><p>The WSFR 75th anniversary will include participation in various fish and wildlife conservation events and conferences throughout the year, to culminate with National Hunting and Fishing Day in September 2012.</p><p><strong>For more information about the WSFR program and its 75th Anniversary in 2012, visit:</strong></p><ul><li>wsfrprograms.fws.gov</li><li>www.wsfr75.com</li><li>Facebook: www.facebook.com/WSFR75</li><li>Twitter: www.twitter.com/wsfr75</li></ul><p>The mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. title="AmmoLand Reports" href="http://www.ammoland.com/" target="_self">Ammoland.com</a>)- When it comes to record keeping and maintaining internal controls, firearms retailers need to &#8220;sweat the details,&#8221; but the National Shooting Sports Foundation® reminds them that they don&#8217;t have to go it alone.</p><p>NSSF, the trade association for the firearms industry, offers federally licenced firearms retailers (FFLs) the opportunity to work with experienced advisors who, as former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) officials, understand what it takes to stay compliant with ATF rules and regulations.</p><p>This service is a key benefit available only to NSSF retailer members; it alone can be worth the price of a retailer membership.</p><blockquote><p>&#8220;Working with an ATF compliance advisor can save a firearms retailer time, money, hassles and, in a worst case scenario, his or her business,&#8221; said Randy Clark, NSSF&#8217;s managing director of business development.</p></blockquote><p>This is how it works. Retailers requiring assistance contact NSSF, which coordinates requests with retired ATF compliance advisors participating in the program. A compliance advisor will then personally visit the retailer to assess its level of ATF compliance, conduct a review of internal controls over firearms and record keeping and train the retailer and staff to help the business to be prepared for an ATF compliance inspection and pass it with flying colors. The price of this service for members is only $499. NSSF also will pick up other fees of compliance advisors, including all travel expenses.</p><p>Each ATF compliance advisor brings a wealth of experience to the job, having conducted hundreds of firearm retailer compliance inspections.</p><blockquote><p><em>&#8220;These are high quality, seasoned former ATF compliance professionals,&#8221; said Clark.</em></p></blockquote><p>NSSF has added three advisors to its popular retailer compliance program so that more FFLs can take advantage of expert advice and avoid warning conferences, warning letters, fines, license revocations or license non-renewals that often are due to oversights and human errors involving paperwork and inventory and not staying abreast of new regulations.</p><p>The enhanced program was announced at SHOT Show University, a series of educational seminars for firearms retailers that took place the day before the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) in Las Vegas.</p><blockquote><p>To learn more about the NSSF&#8217;s Retailer Compliance Program, email Randy Clark at rclark@nssf.org.
