EXETER, NH --(Ammoland.com)- SIG SAUER® introduces four 1911-platform pistols chambered in the company’s .357SIG cartridge, bringing enhanced ballistic performance to the all-American handgun.

Delivering .357 Magnum energy, the .357SIG provides a ballistically superior option to other defensive semi-auto pistol calibers. With muzzle velocities in the 1,500 fps range, the .357SIG is capable of producing hydrostatic shock damage.

“With a year of celebrating the legacy of the 1911 under our belt, we felt it was time to introduce modern-day ballistics to the venerable pistol,” said Jeff Creamer, SIG SAUER Director of Product Management. “The .357SIG turns the old war horse into a race-ready thoroughbred.”

Initially, four models of SIG SAUER 1911s will be offered in .357SIG, two 5″ full-size guns and two 4.2″ carry models. Following their .45 Auto counterparts, these 1911s feature match-grade barrels, hammers and sears. Skeletonized triggers and hammers reduce lock time and offer enhanced accuracy.

The only single-stack production 1911s chambered in .357SIG, these SIG SAUER pistols offer 9+1 capacity in the battlefield proven single-action only platform.

  • The 1911 TACOPs is a full-sized traditional slide 1911, with an all-Nitron® finish; Ergo® XT grips, ambidextrous safety and low-profile night sights.
  • The 1911 Reverse Two-Tone features a natural stainless frame and a Nitron-finished slide.
  • The 1911 Fastback Nightmare Carry offers a 4.2″ barrel and a proprietary rounded grip and backstrap to reduce printing when carried. Natural stainless controls contrast the all-Nitron finish and custom black G-10 checkered Hogue grips.
  • The 1911 Stainless Compact is an all-natural stainless traditional slide pistol with custom Hogue® Blackwood grips.

“In addition to being a superb self-defense round, the .357SIG is an outstanding hunting cartridge,” Creamer said. “This is why more than 80% of state game and wildlife agencies have selected the .357SIG. Out of a 5″ barrel, this pistol-cartridge combination makes for an exceptional hunting platform.”

Introduced in 1994, the .357SIG was developed by SIG SAUER in conjunction with Federal Ammunition. Intended to offer Magnum-sized power in a semiauto-sized cartridge, the .357SIG has become a favorite of the country’s top law enforcement agencies. Manufactured by several ammunition companies, the .357SIG offers superior terminal ballistics, muzzle energy and accuracy when compared to 9mm, .40S&W or .45 Auto offerings.

EXETER, NH --(Ammoland.com)- With the introduction of the 1911 pistol in 2006, SIG SAUER has been building the finest, production 1911-platform pistols available.

By combining modern refinements in the classic American design, SIG SAUER has created 1911s that are as accurate as they are combat- reliable.

This innovation is continued with the new Fastback series of 1911s. SIG SAUER engineers have redesigned the frame and mainspring housing to create a proprietary rounded backstrap, giving the Fastback a distinctive look and advantage for concealed carry.

Available in a full-length 5” barreled version and a 4” carry model, the Fastback’s smooth grip lines won’t protrude against cover garments or push into the ribs when carried concealed.

The all-stainless-steel Fastback frame has been re-engineered from the ground up to reduce its grip signature, while still maintaining the same feel and control of the original 1911 platform.

Initial offerings include the 1911 Fastback Nightmare, using natural stainless controls, grip screws and barrel bushing against the deep black of the durable Nitron  finish. The look is finished off with Hogue double diamond black G-10 grips and low-profile SIGLITE  Night Sights.

Unchanged 1911 features include the match-grade sear, barrel and trigger components for which SIG SAUER 1911s are known. A skeletonized hammer and trigger with an overtravel adjustment screw are also left in natural stainless.

The Fastback Rosewood comes with a natural stainless slide, and a Nitron finished stainless steel frame, Hogue Rosewood double diamond grips and SIGLITE Night Sights.
